I think we've yet to seen Ward at his best. I think this really would be a second coming for Ward.

Ward UD. .. Lots of clinching. . Lots of holding. . . Not a lot of clean punches landed from either. . . One of those 11 landed punches a round vs. 7 landed punches a round type fights.

"Ward had difficulty with Froch when Carl through two to three straight punches upstairs and then changed rythm and threw an uppercut. Same thing here. Dawson hands held high and elbows tucked in, throw a right, a left, double jab and then use that right hand to uppercut between the guard of Dawson."

You ever thought about becoming a trainer?? You seem to have more knowledge of the sweet science than some pro trainers out there (floyd senior)!!
Good post and good anylysis but im going to cut to the chase. Ward hasnt lost a fight since he was 12 years old. Dawson can be a slow starter and if ward dictates the pace which I think he will hell steal the early rounds Dawson will have difficulty pulling it back against such a classy operator. Dawsons also the best Ward has faced so far so its going to be intriguing I cant wait.

I think though that this wont be a fight for the casual boxing fan. This will be one for the hardcore fans. It will be a technical war!!

For sure not a fight for the casual fan.. I agree that we haven't seen the best of ward but one thing for sure he is not all of a sudden going to start knocking folk over and Chad wont be one of them.

At 175 I see it as more even but at 168 I deffo favour ward, Chad has not weighed 168 for 7 or so years and I really do see this being a factor.

If Chad is not too dry at the weight then I think he has a chance but only if he can be successful on the inside and deal with the constant clinching and holding. Ward will do what he does best and will want it up close to help negate Dawsons reach advantage.

As mentioned Dawson is more powerful and I firmly believe that he has to go after Ward and hurt him early, using his skills and advantages on the outside I would like to see Chad throw a little more caution into the wind than we are used to seeing from him. For me if he resorts to a low output negative approach and is dictated to, ward will wear him down easy and win on all the cards.

So imo, Chad has to stop or really hurt him in the first half of the fight otherwise the fight will play into Wards hands. I just can't see Chad being the man to do this.
