Andre Ward vs. Chad Dawson: Fools gold or The real jewellery?

Tonight's the first 24/7 episode.

Only intersting thing will be Virgil Hunter and I'm quite expecting him to steal the show.

exactly trhe example i was thinking of. granted thgese 2 arent quite at that level yet but i dio love two very gifted technical fightersw who will mix it up. brilliant

my thoughts on this fight were that both fighters were relatively even matched in skills but ward's mental make up was superior and that would be the key for his victory but after watching 24/7 and seeing dawson and scully I have to rethink my position and my interest in this fight has increased.

I remember listening nigel collins on the rings podcast talking about watching the pascal fight live in the media room and been surrounded by dawson entourage and one of his son.After dawson lost and was badly cut, his son was crying and nigel said his entourage did nothing and just left the kid there as they went to party.also some of his camp started making trouble concerning his management contract before the fight.good to see he got rid of those fools

I downloaded the full HBO show (Dawson vs Pascal) and Chad went into that fight with a lot of issues. The positive though was when struggling he came out fighting, maybe a little to late but he showed a beast that lied within. He was slapping it on Pascal and Jean was clinging on desperately and could well of been stopped in last round and a bit.

I don't write Chad off, i'm a fan of both although i like Chad's attitude at the moment. He's going to pose Ward some issues, Ward makes mistakes. He's just very good at covering them up and not being exposed to them.

 

Remember the first Hopkins vs Dawson build up and how pissed off Dawson was..? For me he's in that same kind of mindset, and has that same kind of work ethic. Against Hopkins for the second time, i actually thought Hopkins looked technically the better fighter, faster, and at times threw the better shots. But Dawson with his size, athletic ability and his own technical skills..! And the attitude to gamble more than Hopkins won him the fight......"And work more, throw more combinations etc".....

Dawson knew technically, Hopkins and himself could just repel each other all night, like magnets. Because technically they both knew what to do, to nullify each others strengths.

But Dawson just simply took more chances, instead of trying to set up a counter or wait for a opening! sometimes you have to force a opening.

"That's the probably with Hopkins these days, but Hopkins only fights in this manner when he is faces big athletic fighters with above average ring iq's etc"......

For me..? I think Ward & Dawson will have no choice but to fight and force openings.

And i honestly think out of the two fighters, Chad Dawson is more willing to fight in this manner, and will excel in this kind of the fight. No matter what anybody says about Chad Dawson, when the going gets tough..? he has shown time and time again, that he turns up.

When a fights starts to get dirty, rough, violent. Chad Dawson turns bad! It's his strength but also his weakness, because Dawson can spend allot of time shadow dancing and just going through the motions until he is forced into a corner.

There will be a point in this fight when Dawson is forced into a corner, and when that point occurs..? It's over! It's over for Andre Ward.
