Andre Ward vs. Dmitry Bivol.

Great fight! I think stylistically bivol can cause ward alot of problems. He does have good movement he's pretty athletic. With that said his lack of big fight experience against someone as savvy as ward would be his undoing just like it will against canelo.

 

Bivol gives him a beating. Andre wouod do his best to use wrestling, head butts, elbows and dirty tactics but Bivol would either dominate and win by decision or knock him out. Bivol can punch but lately it seems he would rather box and not take chances. Hope he fights Clenelo aggressively because he’s not going to win a decision.

Canelo also beats Ward at SMW or LH. I think he beats him worse than Bivol although I give Bivol a great chance against Canelo if he fights aggressively. If he tries to box Canelo for 12 rounds, Canelo will counter him to death.

 

I am a great admirer of Bivol but Ward would beat him

 

Bivol is more skilled and the better athlete but Ward would probably headbutt, elbow and low blow his way to a hometown decision. If the fight had neutral officials (which it wouldn't be because Ward was a coward) than Bivol schools him.

Ward would cut him with deliberate head butts. He'd come in like a Billy goat.

Then with blood running into Bivol's eyes, Ward would punch him in the testicles and the corrupt referee would wave it off for a TKO win.

Ward wins in a competitive, scrappy affair.

While it's fashionable around here to slag on Ward, he was adaptable, versatile and an absolute dog with next level grit and competitiveness.

I have yet to see those intangibles in Bivol to suggest he'd win in what would very likely devolve into a battle of wills in the final quarter of the fight.

 

Ward would make the fight uncomfortable and win a UD

 

Ward finds a way. Bivol is a top class boxer and would make it difficult and really make Ward work to find a way in the early rounds, but Ward’s experience, pressure and ring IQ drags Bivol into a scrappy affair, leading to Ward winning a close UD.

 

Ward would be beaten by quite a few lhws in history, at smw he's very hard to beat h2h.

 

Biviol has never beat let alone fought anyone close as good as ward.

Ward is exactly the kind of guy who would give canelo hell a more skilled guy a complete fighter who can fight at all ranges with good defense and a high ring iq. Ward would have his way with canelo on the inside he's too strong both mentally and physically. Canelo wouldn't intimidate Ward like he does everyone else in the ring more likely it would be the other way around. Andre Ward is arguably the most mentally tough fighter that I've ever seen, even more so than guys like froch and pbf both of which had iron wills. I always say that Canelo looks so good today because there's no one out there that can exploit his weaknesses, a prime Ward at 168 is that guy.

 

If Ward fought Canelo close like he did Kov in the first fight, there is zero chance he’d get the decision. Ward lost that first fight IMO, it wasn’t even close but Ward fans will never admit it.

Andre is too old now and has been out for too long but he could have fought Canelo before retiring. Ward is definitely smart, that’s why he avoided the fight and retired. Bivol is still developing and is far from a finished fighter. We will see how he does against Canelo. Bivol frustrates me at times because he has power but doesn’t let his hands go as often as he should. He also generates power while maintaining his balance. Maybe you are right but my opinion of Ward isn’t as high as yours. If he defended the belt after the second Kov fight, I would have more respect for him.

 

Bivol but I give Ward a very good chance of adjusting in the rematch.
