Rodriguez is jabbed in the face, pressing in and clubbing with the right hand. They clinch and violently jerk each other into the ropes, fists flying wildly as their heads and bodies grind together. The referee got punched in the face accidentally by Rodriguez. The ref sends both to neutral corners. He tells Rodriguez he will not put up with any more **** and that he got hit. He repeats to Ward that he won't put up with any more ****. He then instructs the officials & timekeeper at ringside that he is deducting TWO POINTS for unsportsmanlike conduct from Ward, and TWO POINTS for unsportsmanlike conduct from Rodriguez. He argues with the officials for a minute, and then informs the boxers that he recommended two-point fines levied on both and the next infraction will get either of them disqualified so they won't get paid for the night. Time in. Ward is landing body shots, as single hooks and shoeshine flurries darting in. Rodriguez is backed into a corner. More body shots by Ward. Rodriguez jabs his way out of the corner but is quickly subdued again by the quicker hands and ring control of Ward. Ward lands the jab and then slaps at Rodriguez's back with a right hand, finishing with a hook to the gut.
