How much money did Wade get to face GGG?? OF course GGG would get more money to face Ward he was a titleholder at MW FFS with HBO backing and hype and Ward was the man at 168. You're the one being silly acting like GGG would get a career low payday to fight Ward. One of the biggest fights that could have happened back then yet you claim fans don't want to see it and GGG won't make any money Stop!

Posting a article about Ward turning down a fight after he already agreed to move up and fight Kovalev at 175 doesn't mean much now does it? That was a typical diva **** GGG pulled during his career. While Ward was at 168 GGG turned him down and said 164 for you, those are facts. GGG turned down a 50/50 Split to fight Ward at 168 those are facts. GGG needing a legit fight should have jumped at the opportunity but he didn't he ducked and turned Ward down.

I'm saying Ward would have gave GGG that work you know this but will never admit it. You never wanted the fight if you thought GGG could beat Ward you would have called for the fight just like you thought GGG could beat Canelo so you called for that one.

Anyone who knows boxing knows that GGG would have gotten beat up and outboxed by Ward. Levels and that's why GGG fans made excuses as to why GGG shouldn't fight ward while Ward fans like me wanted to see the fight because we knew it would be easy work and he would expose GGG.

Kovalev got bullied and beaten up he basically quit against Ward.

Hopkins would have beaten GGG like he stole something. There's a reason why Hopkins is a top 40 ATG while GGG isn't even worth mentioning.

Ward somehow always had the 'A-side' benefits; refs blindeyeing his blatant fouling.
Ward was only guy from original Super Six how somehow managed to avoid finding his passport and fighting "away from home"
Home-cooked decision against Kovalev - like GGG it was a loss in most neutral / astue boxing observer eyes.

We never really saw how great Ward was because he never really had to go above and beyond - IMO.

He always found a way to win, and one has to respect that, but he's never gonna be one of my favourites. A lot of his greatness is related to what he was able to get away with in the ring

 

i never liked ward. i thought he fought ugly. picked kovalev to beat him first fight. but theres no denying hes a winner. he didnt curl up when kov dropped him, he dusted himself off and set about testing his heart. kova failed the test.

 

You knob, GGG has won 7 Gold medals & 1 Silver between 2001 to 2005. and was ranked as the world's best boxer, Pound for Pound from September 2017 to September 2018 by Ring magazine ,yes he is revered in his homeland .

No, actually Ward never got under my skin, I just feel his achievements are somewhat questionable - and for good reasons.

I actually like Ward as a pundit, I would have just liked to have seen him really - as you say - dare to be great; go demolish Kessler in Copenhagen, or Froch in Nottingham - he had the ability to pull it off, but all his biggest wins were somewhat tainted / A-sided IMO

Froch - Super Six - Ward gets' all 3 fights in US. Wtf? Why wasn't it at least in neutral country being the final?
Chad Dawson - weight drained down to 168; tbf this was Chad's fault
Kessler - ridiculous - deliberate - head butts, leading with the head all fight, disgraceful.
Kovalev - almost wrestled from round 5 thru 10 because he couldn't neutralize Kovs javb - should have had at least 1 point deduction, maybe 2 - yet still got a decision, when Kov won the fight.

He did just enough, with the help of his refs and "team", but I don't see how Ward "dared to be great"
