I've been through this already. 114-113 was the third most common score.

You didn't used to post on The Lawn, did you?

In these types of matchups you have to take the best version of both fighters and at their best Toney is better than Ward in every facet of boxing and he did not have a low work rate at 168

Ah yes the nostalgia glasses are on tight today aren’t they.

That doesn't mean much in this context. For one Kovalev and Toneys cruiser and heavy opponents have completely different styles. Kovalev isn't going to agressivly fight a counterpuncher like Toney, much like Jirov, Holyfield, and Peter did. He will stick a jab in Toneys face and keep the range and movement. A fatter Toney at light heavyweight and cruiserweight will certainly struggle with this, just like he did with Mike McCallum at the lower weights.

Toney handled Jirovs pressure so he shouldnt have problems with pressure tactics from a mediocre like Dave Tiberi at the lower weights right ? Thats the logic you're going with.

I don't know if you ever boxed but, if you did, I'll bet you were in the superfly division.

I’m one of the minority who went with ward
. I think he could have taken a decision over Toney but if I’m wrong I’m wrong

Are you comparing Kovalev's boxing ablility with that one of the great Mc Callum?
    I hope not.

Kovalev never was a great mover or boxer. He is a puncher. Punchers do not trouble Toney much. Would it be an easy fight for Toney? No, but I would make him the favourite if he shows up in shape.

As I say, I don't know if you ever boxed but, if you did, I bet you didn't get hit much.

I bet all those punches went way over your head.

Are you serious right now ? Kovalev was a boxer puncher and could absolutely use his feet and stick behind a jab if needed be and he was good at it too

Seems as though the classic forum doesn't even watch modern fighters

Kovalev, to date, has never even been down on all cards when a fight ended.

He’s gone Euro style against arguably all of his toughest opponents.

Toney either would beat him like Nunn or lose a decision.

You mean like how did against Canelo? We all knew what happened.

Toney is the more skilled boxer of the two. Kovalev is not much of a mover anyway. Better boxers have fought Toney and have been defeated.
