Ward was just so smart and versatile...I think he’d find a way to win.

Too close to call, I’m leaning towards Joe because of his work rate and odd angles of attack, but Ward certainly has the skills to pick up the win, either way it’d be a very good razor thin fight

Ward wins in an ugly fight. A lot of grabbing, clinching, grappling, wrestling, hugging & dirty, underhand tactics are sure to make up most of the fight. The fans better bring their pillows & blankets, cause this will be a snoozefest.

Calzaghe wins at both weights IMO, but it's a very close fight at SMW, he wins more easily at LHW.

Pretty close to a 50/50 type of fight. I might lean towards Calzaghe, but I would expect a close SD/MD/Draw type of outcome. I think it would be close enough that people would complain about a robbery or gift decision

TBF (as one who scored Hopkins Calzaghe for Hops) Calzaghe was not quite in his prime for this fight either

Why wasn't he? He said himself on Sky Sports he was still in his prime. . He felf a lot better and stronger not having to drain himself down to 168 anymore.
In his next fight he bounced around the ring like a Duracell bunny , throwing a career high number of punches in the process.
He was as prime as Hopkins was at the same age when he produced one of his best performances against Glen Johnson

I agree, that if you think Calzaghe was prime then, that this conversation really can’t lead anywhere. Have a good one

he was perhaps closer to his prime than Hopkins, for whatever that was worth.

“he said he was” - lol what fighter goes into a fight saying man I can’t do things at as high a level as I used to.

“he was as prime as Hopkins was at the same age” (first I don’t think Hopkins was prime at 36, although still high quality) (2nd primes has very little to do with compatible age...if not every 38 y/o fighter could be called prime)

If you can’t see that Calzaghe was no longer in his prime, then we are wasting our time here. We obviously are watching 2 different sports and fighters, so there is little chance we will find common ground. Good luck

What do mean perhaps?? There is no doubt about it. . Calzaghe was light years more prime than Hopkins was.
Hopkins at that age was on cement feet and had a very low out-put , energy conserving style.

Did you not see Calzaghe's next fight against Jones Jr where he threw over a 1000 punches and was dancing in and out like a cat for 12 whole rounds?? Name me another past primer that fast , that active and that energetic??
Calzaghe was still prime.. He even admitted it himself
