Why not? He fought elite level competition when he was only 26. He's only 31.

I think you forget that Andre Dirrell after he bowed out of the Super6, took off for two years then fought a scrub, than took another year off and his last 4 opponents have been at or below Periban level.

As long as Ward won't fight either of the Dirrell brothers, it's better if they get beaten. We'll see how DeGale and Groves, assuming Groves and Anthony Dirrell gets it on, will do.

Ward has been acting a bit funny when it comes to make big fights happen. Since he had a shoulder surgery, I can understand why he had a long layoff, because that's serious stuff. But he needs to stop telling the boxing industry and the fans what he won't do, and start doing things instead.

I honestly haven't fallowed Andre Dirrells career since he pulled out from S6. But I do know he'll be fighting the guy that KO'd Wards next opponent, so I think Dirrell is more relevant that Ward until Ward gets his **** together.

    It's going to be interesting.

But my thinking is, if Andre won, he obviously wouldn't fight his own brother, or Ward, and I don't think we'll ever see a rematch with Froch.

But if James wins, I think he'd be open to fighting Ward and Anthony Dirrell, and according to Eddie Hearn, Froch could also be a possibility, even though Froch didn't want the fight a few months ago.

Ya but its taken Dirrel 5 years to get in the ring with a fighter like Degale. Ward after a couple of tune ups, will fight the top guys in the division.

No Dirrel fought Edwards recently who is ranked 10 by WBC and has defeated Bdou Jack who drew with Perbian. That's above Perbian level.

Both Andre and Anthony Dirrel have stated they want to fight Ward. Ward has stated he won't fight either of them. Andre Dirrel recently beat WBC 10 Derek Edwards who knocked out Bdou Jack. Bdou Jack has a draw with Perbian. So I would say Edwards is above Perbian especially since he is ranked 10 and Perbian isn't even above 20.

When Anthony Dirrel picked up the WBC 1 contender he kept calling for a fight with Ward and Ward wouldn't fight him. Ward was stripped as the WBC felt he had enough time to fight him. He was given emeritus status and dropped that also. I'm sorry but if Ward doesn't fight 2 of the other most talented guys in the division it taints his SMW run for me. Especially since Anthony was calling him out and Ward kept saying he had to think about it and BSing Anthony. Andre Dirrel has been recently talking about fighting Ward too saying it has to happen.

This is quite interesting stuff. I didn't know the Dirrell brothers targeted Ward. Good going.

Took him 5 years, still Edwards is not a quality fighter like Degale, far from it. He has not faced anyone near as good since AA.

Ward still had his injury and promotional issues, he wasn't fighting anyone.

He had plenty of time to fight Anthony and Anthony was calling for the fight before he even thought about fighting Rodriguez. Anthony deserved the fight more than Rodriguez. He made excuse after excuse and the WBC had no choice but to strip him for it.

Yea it did take him awhile and it's sad that 2 of the most talented fighters in the division have been so inactive, Andre Ward/Dirrel. It's a damn travesty seriously. Edwards was a good way to start working himself back in. Edwards had just knocked out Bdou Jack. The Degale-Dirrel fight is awesome I'm also hoping for a Groves-Anthony Dirrel fight. If Ward doesn't move up and doesn't unify against the Dirrels if they are the other champs I'm going to be ****ed.

Yea well it's mostly because Ward is publicized more and his image was being protected. Ward has stated over and over that he won't fight them while both of them (Andre more recently) want a fight with him. I think both Dirrels cause a lot of problems for Ward and he sees them as high risk/ low reward. I hate to say it but he ducked Anthony like the plague and fought Rodriguez instead. If he doesn't fight them his career is definitely tainted.

You can't call yourself the best in your division without fighting the best fighters in your division. There's an argument to be made that Andre Dirrel was number 2 at SMW and Ward didn't want to fight him. Didn't want to fight Bute and refused to fight Anthony Dirrel got stripped and then dropped emeritus status.

What ****ed me off is Bute would of been big for Andre Wards resume. Anthony Dirrel would of been good for his resume. Andre Dirrel would of been good also for his resume. These are all fights that are winnable with Andre Dirrel being the most difficult. These are all fights that could of made a better argument for best SMW of all time.
