Ward didnt fight Dawson at LHW dummy and hasnt fought Kovalev. do you think Ward is going to face Kovalev in November or do you think it will be delayed a bit longer?
Eubank and Jones were fast fighters and that is more than Ward fought. Same Ward that didnt face Bute, didnt face Dirrell didnt think stevenson was big enough.
You note Calzaghe defending his title but look at Wards last 3 opponents consisting of Rodriguez, Paul Smith and Barrera.

so.... Failey is comparing calzaghes title defences ......with 2out of 3 of Wards NON TITLE FIGHTS (barrera + smith)

FLOP mate, u jusy pyssed on joes defences by lowering them to non title fights of ward in comparative importance.

by trying to make joe look better, u actually made him look much worse. Joe would look better if you hadn't spoken in his defence.

Fair enough, we'll have to wait and see. But I think the fight will happen. In my honest opinion, Joe was a true great, but I don't think he'd have fought Kovalev.

 

I would have to see a link with regards to that because what I recall seeing was that he was unaware and that it wasnt a problem. remember he pulled out with a small cut weeks before the fight.

Look who Joe fought from Eubank to Lacy. How many of those fights were mandatories?

Joe bragged of his number of WBO defences. He was more than happy to fight all of those guys. So what makes anyone think he'd have fought the likes of Dawson and Kovalev?

I'm not hating on him, I'm asking a genuine question.

I wouldn't say Eubank was particularly fast.

Roy was, but we know he was only a shell of his former self. Joe admitted as much on three occasions from 2005-2008.

Joe only stepped up to LHW in his final year, even though the SMW division from the late 90's to the early 00's was weak. He didn't step up after he couldn't unify against Ottke in 2003, even though there was nothing else on the horizon. He complained of making weight and wanting big fights, but remained at the weight.

Yes, Ward's last 3 opponents haven't been great. But we know why that is. It's because each of them were tune ups because he's been so inactive. It's been really frustrating for him and his fans. I think he's only had 4 fights in over 4 years. But compare fighting guys like Smith to Joe fighting Salem, Sobot, Mkrtchyan, Ashira, Thornberry and Manfrdo etc. Andre would have been ripped for fighting guys like that while he was a champ.

I'd like Andre to fight another few times before facing Kovalev. So I won't mind if they don't face off until next year.

You can say sarcastically that Joe fought Hopkins while Andre fought Smith. But while Andre is gearing up for a fight with Kovalev, Joe at the same age was fighting Mkrtchyan and Salem. Joe is the one who offered Pavlik a fight in 2006 when he was an unknown NABF champion, yet wouldn't fight him in 2008. Joe is the guy who was made to fight Peter Manfredo. Also, according to Frank W, he was happy to fight a guy called Freeman Barr.

Again, I don't want to hate on Joe. But I believe there's sufficient evidence to suggest that he wouldn't have faced guys like Ward and Kovalev.

 

I think Andre would have nullified Lacy's attributes.
