Got some fresh air. it was nice. re worked the calculations. as someone said....Joe would brutally slap the **** out of Ward and get the ud.
Calzaghe would take Ward apart piece by piece. He does everything better. He even has the better trainer.
joe cowlzaghe has a unique claim, the only titlist in smw/lhw history who waits till the hotshots turn 40something before facing them.
he made a good defence against Kessler, although he waited years till Kessler got injured before agreeing to the fight. apart from that, no, no good defences, except perhaps against the MW tv show boxer Bika, who scared joe shytless into dropping the IBF title.
Thats your opinion, but I have seen plenty to suggest it would be a wide clear win for Calzaghe. Ward seems to fade late and Calzaghe doesnt fade. Ward hasnt fought boxer movers and has not shown an interest in facing any that I know of. Ward hasnt fought a top prime SMW Ward hasnt fought a top prime undefeated SMW Ward seemed to hold when being attacked, I doubt he would be able to get away with holding 3 mins a round every round. Calzaghe, is faster, hits harder has displayed a greater chin, has shown he can fight going forward and backwards rather than hit and hold which is also a style he has shown he can handle. Theres plenty I have seen that makes me think it would be a clear easy Calzaghe win People try and make a case for Ward looking good against faded Kessler forgetting it was old end of career Calzaghe that showed the way and also forget that Ward struggled with faded rusty Bika that Calzaghe handled when prime. Ward had a tough close fight with Froch coming off a tough close fight with old faded boiled down Johnson who when prime was beaten by Sheika that Calzaghe got rid of before the halfway stage. The era is more well know but less tough as this one of many example shows and that further indicates how this fantasy match up would go to me
You're entitled to your opinion, and I respect what you've written. A few points: The fact that Ward hasn't defeated any top, undefeated fighters, doesn't mean anything to me. That's just circumstances. I don't think Kessler was badly faded against Ward. I don't think that Ward struggled against Bika, and that Joe handled him easily. The triangle scenario with Johnson, Sheika and Joe, is of no relevance to this thread. The final of the Super Six wasn't at all close, and Ward had a fractured hand. Ward has some similarities to Hopkins, and Hopkins gave Joe plenty of trouble. This would have been a genuine 50/50 fight for me. It wouldn't haven been easy for either guy. Ward hasn't beaten anyone on Joe's level, and likewise, Joe has never easily beaten anyone on Ward's level. :good
