andre ward vs joe calzaghe

Calzaghe went live and death with a washed up Bernard Hopkins. The same Bernard Hopkins two years earlier lost two decision against Jermain Taylor. If the best Calzaghe could manage against a low output Bernard Hopkins is a split decision, he's not coming nowhere close to beating Andre Ward.

People always bring up Calzaghe's output. It might mean something against the scrubs Calzaghe spent majority of his career defending his WBO championship against. Against an elite like Ward that **** gets shut the **** down and Calzaghe is meant to fight exactly the type of fight that Ward dictates they fight.

 

Your best win and your prime are two completely different things and do not always coincide with each other. Calzaghe's best performance was Lacy, his best victory was Kessler, but I don't think he was at the peak of his power at this point. 10 years as a world champ at the same weight, 3 rounds in one year proceeding the Kessler fight, years of hand problems. That doesn't correlate.

 

Ward is simply too strong and rough of a man for Calzaghe. Look how B hops out muscled him while sharp shooting accurate conters and leads. Calzaghe would expend so much energy just dealing with Ward inside game that he would get busted up and taken into deep waters, possibly getting stopped late! Look how much stronger Kovalev and Froch were than Calzaghe and Dre took their souls.

Calzaghe was a titlist for 10 years. You should see his record. Look at the guys he was defending his WBO belt (until 2004 many even regard the WBO as a world championship belt).

 

All respect to Calzaghe although i am a latino american i was a fan of his but Ward wins it. Might not even be close.
