Nah it’s defo about Ward,Kovalev in that first fight surprised everyone inc the media in that it was he looked like the boxer whilst Ward just did his usual stinkfest stuff that the fans just hate.

 

Kovalev initiated most of the clinches in the first fight. One the most aggressive clinches I might add. We're talking about head locking someone and aggressively pushing them towards the robes. Why do you think he gas towards the later half of the first fight.

Calzaghe easy

 

I haven't seen Calzaghe low blow punch resistance. But if his nuts can take it, then easy UD for Joe.

 

Yeah, it's a tough fight for both. Joe is very difficult to deal with, very skilled with a tremendous engine, a handful for most anyone. But, like you, I'd favor Ward to scrap out a decision.

 

KOVALEV LOST BOTH FIGHTS TO WARD AND THATS A FACT, sore LOSERS like you who can't handle a decision not going your way and telling people who they should or shouldn't admire is a bit of a joke.

 

Hopkins was top 3 P4P at the time.

Taylor lost to Pavlik, who was then schooled by Hopkins so that bit doesn't really play out to well.

Also Hopkins went on to have some very good wins after Calzaghe slapped the racism out of him.

 

That was the turning point in the fight and I’m not disputing that he heard locked ect but when you’ve got Ward literally running at you to wrestle and clinch I don’t think SK knew what to do to be honest.
Obviously we have different opinions on this and that’s fine but my abiding memory of that fight is Ward trying to Box for the first few rounds and got beaten up and his reaction to that was to charge head first across the ring in round three and that’s just a fact,you can even hear Virgil telling him to be a dog which just means do your dirty stinkfest stuff.

Ward has so much boxing ability but his career is clouded by controversy,lost count of ho many fights where he stunk the joint out,his win over Froch was done fairly as was Barrera and that’s what bugs me as he can Box and doesn’t need the Ref onside ignoring all his bull s*** wrestling stuff.
If it was Lomo or GGG who constantly won by fighting this way you’d be all over it,thank god nobody else thinks boxing equals wrestling or boxing would die a death.

 

Calzaghe wins a horrible to watch UD.....but then again when has Ward ever been in a fun to watch fight.

 

If they clashed and their ages were right It would be one of Joes toughest fights without a doubt

Joe could demorallise ward but I think it would be a Calzague win by a couple of rounds
If it happened in real life there would be a rematch and even Joe and Andre third fight
If it happened in real life it would be a historic sporting event not just a world level fight
Everybody knows them and ward has been seen in the creed film so fans that dont normally watch fights would be all over it .

I can picture the whole thing on a hot August night in Cardiff I can feel the atmosphere as I imagine this

Good point and all these so called Ward fans on here where are they when he fights in empty venues,if they loved him so much he’d of been selling out the Garden or wherever he chose to fight.
Ward never understood why he never got the love or why nobody turned up to watch him and the truth is the fans ain’t daft,they voted on their feet long ago with Ward.

As for his set of skills, yes he is extremely hard to beat but when was the last time you saw Floyd, Pacquiao, Lomachenko, Golovkin or Canelo having to clinch, rough house or jump in with a flying Oakland headbutt to beat their opposition?
