Andre Ward vs. Lucian Bute.

Nottingham was where the cash cow was, but Im not convinced either really wanted it

 

He beat G Johnson who was in the S6 and I would have favoured Bute against Abraham, Dirrell, Ward at that time as I did favour Bute over Froch at that time

 

Wouldnt waste time with him.

Ward said Wembley to price himself out of the fight. Surely he knows he's not big enough to fill Wembley.

 

Ward knew he would have lost to Bute and it is exactly why he ducked him.

I'd have liked to have seen Bute fight Andre Dirrell.

 

If Carl had really wanted that fight, they'd have tried harder to make it.

 

Froch probably didn't want to fight at his own personal financial expense which it would've took to get Ward to the UK. Ward has said on record he would not accept being the B-side v Froch. Despite the fact Froch shifts 10x the tickets he does and does millions on PPV.

 

I don't think Carl really wanted him at all.

Of course Andre wouldn't have accepted being the B side. He's got a huge ego like Carl and most other top fighters. Although Carl is more popular, Andre already beat him with a fractured hand.

It's similar to the argument between Roy and Hopkins in 2002. Not that Bernard was really popular, but you get my point. Andre had beaten him relatively easily, and for Carl to have had a chance at avenging his loss, he'd have had to have made concessions which he obviously wasn't going to do. Basically, the fight never had a realistic chance of happening.

 

I believe Froch did want it. Back when he beat Bute he was making big noises about it. Obviously he'd found out what it would take to get Ward back in the ring for a rematch and saw it as a pointless exercise.

 

If Andre Ward thought he could beat Bute, he would have fought him for a HUGE payday after winning the Super Six.

But Ward knows that he could never beat a fast, slick fighter, so he ducked Lucian Bute, Andre Dirrell, George Groves and James DeGale.

 

I respect your opinion, but I don't agree. He knows Andre beat him with a double fractured hand.

Maybe when he was on a high after Bute he briefly wanted it, but he never really pursued it.

That fight could of happened if not for Dirrel's brain injury. The brain injury that didn't show up for months after the so called injury and just days after SHowtime told Ward and Dirrell that if they weren't going to fight each other Showtime would pursue legal action against both fighters.
