This. Hagler ranks higher in terms of greatness, sure, but Ward is two divisions bigger and a p4p level talent.
Here we go. Hagler never fought above 160. At 160 Ward is a corpse and the shine off of Hagler's menacing dome will be enough to knock him over. I suppose we could split the difference and say 164 but then folks would say that Hagler is a chicken, a ducking coward
It'd be hilarious if Marvellous drained him down to 160 and then Dawson'd him. All this weight cutting business has always annoyed me.
Before this question is answered.... Is this fight taking place in jokeland? Is ward allowed to billy goat hagler in the face and hold ? Is ward allowed to juice with Victor Conte (BALCO)? Marvellous all day long
A good light heavyweight will always win against even an HOF middleweight. Always. Size matters, there are weight divisions for a reason. Ward would be two weight divisions above Hagler on fight night. Even more actually, because at those times they didn't cut as much water as they do today. Ward by stoppage or wide decision.
If they fought at 175, Hagler would probably be in trouble. Ward is much much larger. Hagler wasn't a particularly big MW either. Still, you never know.
A bit pointless doing these decades apart comparisons of fighters but Haglar was far more exciting than son of a goat Ward.
Ward is too big. 6'0, weighs in at 175+ for SMW. Hagler is 5'8.5, weighs 160 in the morning of a fight.
