As long as Gvozkyk has a steel jock and cup with cushion he would beat SOB, SOB needs Tony Weeks, the judges and boxing commission, he can only win by cheating. Bivol would take care of SOB as well. Let Kovalev fight SOB in Moscow and see what happens! Kovalev by knockout!!! Also, let Kovalev fight SOB with neutral judges, referee, boxing commission and see what happens. Why do you think SOB said that neutral judges would be unfair to him?
That "robotic" default setting keeps getting dusted off! It is like they do not even try any more, just keep recycling some old stereotype, it is so intellectually lazy.
Whenever fighting SOB a fighter should be allowed to have a jock and a cup with shock absorbers....................never allow Tony Weeks to referee one of your fight, nor idiots like Lawrence Cole, do not depend on Vegas judges and boxing commission....................
Robotic, really? You say that about a guy who is almost as fluid in his movement as Lomachenko. Have you even watched Gvozdyk? Because of all the words that could be used to describe him, that one would be at the bottom of the list. He's the antithesis of robotic. Do you enjoy sounding like a lemming? At least if you want to troll, try something a little more original than the typical garbage Nay Sayer spits out on a regular basis.
Three posters already have called Gvozdyk "robotic" in this thread, it shows that they are just spewing or repeating anti-EE propaganda when they say that. If they want to make a case that Ward beats him, that's fine, there is such a case to be made. If they want to criticize Gvozdyk, they could talk about his inside game, or raise questions about his chin. But saying Gvozdyk is robotic is either intellectually dishonest or, at best, mindless trolling.
I like Gvozdyk, but I don't see how he can win this. Ward is too sophisticated for him in terms of ring generalship, so he will control the range and the pace, and I doubt Gvozdyk will be prepared for Ward's rough inside game. Moreover, two fights against Kovalev clearly is better preparation than what Gvozdyk was doing lately. I expect it to go 12 rounds, though, with a somewhat similar result to Ward - Barrera.
What he's been doing lately? You mean brutally stopping Yunieski Gonzalez who debatably beat Pascal and outboxing in a shutout and stopping the guy that Kovalev used and struggled against as preparation for Ward, a hell of a lot easier than Kovalev. If that's what he's been doing lately, I'd say that's damn fine preparation for Ward. This content is protected
Right, explain how he's robotic. Robotic usually means something along the lines of: - stiff movement; that's not Gvozdyk at all, he is fluid for a big LHW. - no lateral movement; Gvozdyk moves from side to side very well. - no punch variety; Gvozdyk has decent punch variety and combinations.
He is robotic because he is predictable and gets hit alot. He got dropped by Karpency, remember? Gary Russell Jr. is robotic. He is fast as they come, but throws the same shoe-shiney combos from the same distance again and again. That was the difference between Russell and Chenko. Russell was a hair faster, Cheko was much much looser and slicker, so I gave Russell 2 rounds.
Predictable? Break that down for me further. He's got all the shots, mixes in straight shots with left hooks and uppercuts. Sometimes there could be more variety, but it's not even close to the insult of "robotic". I know Gvozdyk's defense can be improved, but "gets hit alot" is an exaggeration. Besides, that has very little to do with the word "robotic". Nothing to do with "robotic". Most top fighters have been down at some point -> doesn't equal "robotic".
Here are the stats for Gvozdyk vs Gonzales: "CompuBox: Gvozdyk landed 116 of 256 (45%) of his total punches, and a shocking 72 of 106 (68%) of his power punches. Gonzalez landed a paltry 26 of 165 (16%) of his total punches, and just 18 of 100 (18%) of his power shots."
