Impossible to say.. They actually have very similar styles and physical attributes. Fast on hands and feet and not the tallest of biggest SMWs. The key difference in their styles is that Ward is better at infighting and holding, while Ottke never trained this at all. In Germany Ward would not be allowed any holding - and that neutralizes his main weapon. Take that away and he is no better than Ottke to be honest. Kessler and Dirrelll have a better chance of beating Ottke in Germany than Ward does imo. In Oakland Ward wins a wide decision.
If you want to play it straight, on neutral ground Ward destroys Ottke. He could beat him on the outside but would most likely just pound Ottke on the inside and win a wide decision against him. In Germany, obviously Ward would never be able to fight on the inside, and would beat Ottke on the outside anyway but lose the decision in an Ottke robbery special.
It depends... Does Ottke get to fight at home and get shady decisions like he always did? I don't really like Ward a whole lot, but Ottke is my least favorite boxer of all time, so I am probably a bit too biased to weigh in on this one... Oh **** it; Ottke looses big time and is revealed to be a ****ing coward and a fraud. As is any German fighter who doesn't fight outside of Germany.
on neutral ground either both fight clean or receive penalties. both were successful amateurs and are able to keep it clean if they forced to. and prime Ottke. Ottke vs Reid was not prime Ottke. Also most would agree that eighter would win if the fight was in his backyard as it looks like. In the recent years most german based fighter i know of got robbed when they traveled to the U.S. as well as a lot of foreign boxers were robbed in germany. Generally there isnt any more credibility if either a U.S. or Europe boxer only fights at home imo.
