As a Ward fan I would like to see this happen. Ward doesn't have many options. For him to go into the lion's den and win, would benefit his career regardless of the opponent.

    EDIT

I agree, but he won't do it.

Exactly, as long as the refereeing and judging is fair then it has to happen.

Ward was / is open to fighting rematches with Froch & Kessler in their home territories. So I can't see no reason why he wouldn't travel to Germany for a match up with Robert.

Yes. Ward not having many options left at SMW is the best argument for this fight happening. If Ward decides to leave the US then it will most likely be for Froch or Kessler though. That said, if he does that, then a second fight away from home in Germany against Stiegblitz would be great...just very unlikely all things considered.

Robert draws a sizeable crowd. The idea of Ward coming to Germany would bring big business, it would be a sellout. Ward should take the trip over, it would bring credence to his resume.

Albeit late in his career, Calzaghe did it with Hopkins. Ward shouldn't make the same mistake and stamp out the idea that he's a home fighter whilst in his prime years.

Definitely. I just think it's more likely he'll leave the US for a Kessler/Froch rematch which would be big business too. I'd love to see Ward/ Blitz Stieg in Germany. I'm just not sure that fight is going to be on Wards road map.

EDIT: I should say that I think it's unlikely that Ward will leave the US for a while if at all because he is under no obligation to. It would be great if he did but that's how it is.

Stieglitz is a step down from Froch and Kessler and Abraham's promoter is probably working on a 3rd fight already.

That's all we need. Then there's a great fight on our hands.

When was the last time a prime American fighter when to Germany? If this gets made it would be good for international boxing relations, especially if judging and refereeing is fair.

What in the world will King Robert need judges for? :-(
