Andre Ward vs. Sullivan Barrera

After watching a bit more footage of Barrera I really can't see him beating Ward. Barrera is strong, a dangerous puncher but he's also quite crude and basic. I like him he seems like a good guy but he still has a lot left to prove. He's just another of the long line of talented prospects currently at 175 who are still untested at the highest level as pros.

His best win is Murat who is tough but I had a sneaky feeling Barrera was going to stop him. Murat looked a bit soft to me in that one. Kovalev noticed that too. And if you take a peruse at Murat's record there's a distinct dearth of punchers on it. He hasn't really fought anyone who was known for their power. Other than a faded Murat who was never much even when in his prime he hasn't beaten anyone so it's hard to get a gauge on how good he is. He's not in Beterbiev's, Slava Shabranskyy's, Gvozdyk's or Bivol's league IMO but he would be a good test for all of them and he's roughly on the same level as the second tier of prospects at 175.

The fact that he has never been past the 8th round before and only been past 6 once is a concern, especially considering he's facing a dirty POS like Ward who holds religiously in order to greatly reduce the amount of shots his opponents can land on his re****ed dog face. Obviously that will also tire them out and demoralize them too. As much as I dislike Ward, his stupid worm-faced trainer and his repulsive fans, and would like to see Barrera win, I really can't see anything other than a Ward UD or late stoppage. Given that's in Oakland, or even just the US, where literally everything is stacked heavily in Ward's favor and he can fight to a set of rules he penned with his own hand, that only makes Barrera's task that much more difficult.

Couldn't make it past the 5 second mark after seeing him say that. The stupid big smile on his face only made it even more nauseating.

 

Here's Ward doing VADA testing with his new best buddy Bryant Jennings who he has been sucking up to for quite a while now because he wants him to spy on Kovalev for him. There's that stupid smile again.
