He didn't lose to any LHW's in his prime. His losses were all to HW's.

Bob Foster was a HUGE LHW with devastating punching power as well as height, reach.

Ward moved up several divisions to finally settle at 175 lbs.

Foster is bigger, more powerful and with several physical advantages.

Foster is one of the best LHWs of all time.

Ward beat Kovalev in a weak era.

Such intelligent, logical analysis. Carry on.

While I don't think that LHW now is "weak", Saad54 makes some good points. Guys like Bob Foster were bad news at 175. People hit by Foster's body shots said it felt like he was breaking them in half.

Thank you very much, Mr Saad. Those were Murderers Row days.

Well, he lost to Doug Jones and Mina who really weren't all that big. I believe light heavies today are bigger than they used to be. Ward would easily be a career light heavy back then.

I remember going to a press day where Margarito, Paul Williams, and Ward were present. And I'm 6'1, 165. He was clearly a size or two bigger than them or me, and that was early in his career when he was smaller.

Ward will have mixed results here.

Foster and Qawi are a nightmare for him stylistically and both probably stop him late on. That's not just cos they're bigger, they're actually superior fighters for my money.

It goes without saying Spinks is better, he's one of the greatest to ever lace em up.

Saad I think loses a close points decision as he'll start strong but Ward will figure him out and take a victory down the stretch.

Eddie was inconsistent as hell and probably makes Ward look really bad at times but I see Ward edging this one.

The rest of the guys from this era I favour Ward over.

Didn't read this earlier. Light heavy is stacked right now. Kovalev, Stevensen, Bivol, Gvozdyk, Browne, Beterbiev, Jack, and Alvarez all compete there. You should watch these guys.

Beats some (30%), loses against some (70% from the era in the thread title. Certainly doesn't fare well against the names mentioned
