This is an interesting match up. Bellew holds the WBC title. He has a name in the UK and I believe the fight would sell very well in the O2 Arena. From the BN24 main site: “If he really wants to do it – I’m game, it’s as simple as that,” said Bellew to skysports.com. “Like I say, I do respect him, he’s an amazing fighter. He’s very good at what he does. He also said: “I’m a full blown, big cruiserweight. I’m not a light-heavyweight who is struggling anymore and I’ve just shown that I can deal with one of the most powerful heavyweights in the world,” said Bellew. “I would have no problem dealing with Andre Ward.” Bellew is indeed a big cruiser at this point. Ward would be giving up substantial height, reach, and weight advantage by fighting Tony. In addition, Tony would have the power advantage. Ward of course, has the skills advantage. I'd like to see this fight. So who takes it??
If Team Ward seeks this fight, I'll assume they are pretty sure they can come up with a game plan that will produce the W and I'd probably pick Andre. Otherwise, I'll forgive them the jubilation of last Saturday night and go with heavyweight is probably a bridge too far.
The AJ talk I think was possible cocaine induced. LOL. No way in hell would 6ft Ward have a prayer against the 6ft6 Joshua with his 250 pounds and 81 inch reach.
good fight at cruiser.. why not ? is there money fights for ward at cruiser? wouldnt he make more money fighting stevenson?
I don't rate bellew and I voted ward but... It would be interesting to see ward in with such a bigger man with his inside fighting he isn't as gracefull round the ring as he used to be and coming in close he has a big risk of being timed he struggled with kov having the reach advantage so imagine against some who has a bigger reach than kov and also has a big height advantage. But bellews timing is poor he's just not a world class fighter, he struggles if he doesn't have you stuck against the ropes, he gasses. He won't have to worry bout wards power though so he could go for broke but I think ward could frustrate him to a ud. I wouldn't be suprised if part of reason Tony wants it cause unlike against wilder he won't have to worry about a brutal ko.
Ward wins for sure. Bellew only has size advantage, I think that Kovalev at 175 is stronger and hits harder than Bellew. Also Bellew to slow to land on Ward.
I'd be interested in this fight. If he does really well with Bellew's size then he might have a chance against top heavyweights.
Ward, easily. Entertaining fight to make and a good idea for Ward to use him as a good tune up at Cruiser before taking on the best there.
