Why? Jr is a huge mw and can easily fight at 168. I don't think Jr will be at 160 much longer anyway.
So the **** what if Jr is huge, Ward brought this man down turned down a catch weight, for a reason, Ward did not want an even fight with Dawson. So if your going to try and cash in on a Chavez Jr fight which is only going to help you make more money then your likely ever going to make, your going to have to give up something here as well.... And yes Ward is the champ at 168 but going in with Chavez Jr he sure as **** will not be the draw... so if he wants to fight Jr, I say **** it come and get a taste of your own doing, meet Junior at 160, fight in Mexico and earn that paycheck.
Ward is a draw in Oakland and I think all of California the fight could be in la at staples on ppv and it would be huge providing Jr gets past Martinez. 168 in la is the best option available.
I think he's a past-prime fighter. He looked good mentally against Hopkins but hasn't put on a dynamic offensive display in years. Trainer instability has hurt, but I wonder if he simply hasn't lost passion. Also, his speed doesn't look the way it did 6-7 years ago. Fighters age differently, and maybe Chad is simply an old 30. But none of this detracts from Ward's performance, which was sensational.
Well, Jr will be there as long as he possibly can...he knows that without his weight advantage his chances decrease exponentially
Will never ever happen even if the cheating fraud son of a fraud beats Martinez and gets away from tests.
46-1-1 Chavez Jr. at 168 to go up against 26-0-0 Andre Ward. I think Ward beats him and it's easy for Ward too.
I think it's all about the mentality when it comes to beating Ward. It was frustrating to watch a talented fighter like Dawson completely check out when he faced adversity. Chavez wouldn't do that. Similar to Froch, he would keep coming but Chavez is faster than Froch. I'd love to see this fight, which Ward would be favored to win. How much favored all depends on this upcoming Saturday.
