If he actually really wants to fight him if at all:lol:

Why can't he just fight him if he wins on Saturday?

    He is not confident

Here he basically admits that he wants anther fight before Kovalev

As long as it's in the summer and he fights Kovalev at the end of 2016 I don't really see a problem with this. Preferably they would both fight on the same card to help build the fight, that makes the most sense.

This was the deal from the get-go.
Ward signed a 3 fight deal with HBO that was to culminate with a showdown with Kovalev(on HBO PPV, if i am not mistaken).
After signing the 3 fight deal, Ward was initially scheduled to appear on the Cotto-Canelo bill.

    Do some digging you numbskulls.

Yes, however HBO still counted Ward pulling out of his November bout as a fight so it's Barerra then Kovalev according to contract.

I believe their contract with Kovalev states that neither of them will have any other fight after June. That's, if Ward gets past Barrera of course.

You're right! So he can still take another fight as late as June 25th, and honor the contract.

But that would mean that Ward has more fights inside a single year as he did since the S6 in total

I don't really see Ward making excuses in the video. He said that he isn't focused on that right now at all and he doesn't know. He went further to say that if he doesn't beat Barrera he doesn't even deserve a shot at the title which is 100% correct. I think people just want to see Ward lose or be a coward because they know he can beat Kovalev. Ward cleaned out the Super Middleweight division and will do the same with Light Heavyweight.

Nobody at Light Heavyweight has a chance at beating him other than Kovalev.

The contract says neither can fight again after June.

That would never happen. Ward is too much of a diva to fight on the undercard and he demand too much money.
