If I was Ward I'd go for Bellew first (heavyweight or cruiserweight whichever he fancies). Then Usyk. If he gets past those two take a shot at the lowest hanging belt, if they aren't unified by then.

Funny as it may be to see Ward buckling under every jab Joshua might land I'm not going to criticise him for not fighting at heavyweight despite his boasts. I'd actually be really impressed if he managed to beat any of the top cruiser weights out there right now. And no Bellew does not count as one of those.

Ruiz would've out mauled the mauler though in Ward I reckon. TKO Johny Ruiz in 10 !

Ruiz as there to be the fodder for any smaller man with any star power IMHO. I just can't imagine him winning a big fight despite his win over Evander. Perhaps I'm being unfair but I just think of him as one of Don King's ugliest (stylistically) creations.

Ward beats Stiverne. Could have a former world heavyweight champion on his resume.

I'll be very surprised if he fights Bellew, as another fellow mooted earlier in the thread.

CW or HW, I'm looking forward to Ward's return. And I expect him to be facing a top fighter, even if there's some kind of tune-up first.

doubt it, roy jones he aint.

but i wouldnt rule it out, should a really weak HW champ emerge briefly like charles martin.

its odd how noone has done a roy jones for a while, and yet people still knock him so when others cant do it.

Ward needs to hope Parker beats Joshua then Parker v Ward....meehhhh not bad. However if Joshua wins,Joshua or Wilder will have all those titles wrapped up and if Ward decides to get in the ring with either of them......Let's just say Wilder and Joshua wont take too kindly being hit in the nuts like Kovalev did.

I’ve slept on Ward before and have been wrong, so I can’t completely discount him coming back and grabbing a hw belt. He’s a smart guy, disciplined, has a great relationship with his trainer and perhaps most importantly, great confidence in himself. His style is not too fan friendly so I think that makes some fans a little unappreciative and dismissive of his good attributes.
Plus, being on the shorter side for a heavyweight will allow him to come up with his head into their jaws and brow ridges, to say nothing of being able to work their nuts over a little more easily. Yup- I can see him poaching a belt from a Parker, Ruiz type of champ.
