You really want to get into Ward's history with a signed contract?:rofl
Why do you think he didn't fight anybody for 19 months?

Nowhere was it annouced that the contract is contingent on him fighting Kovalev. Everywhere, they were only mentioning a "potential" fight.

And as others already said, "honourable" Ward has an experience of not honoring signed contracts.

I think this fight goes the distance or is a late stoppage. Ward has a better chin than given credit for and Kov will have trouble landing clean.

wow, you've worked yourself up in to a spitting rage over Ward. Because he forced Dawson to lose 7 pounds and is -- what is this? -- carrying a belt from SMW?

Oh the horror. The man should simply be executed. The way he dragged Dawson down like that was unconscionable, especially after Dawson made a "stupid" statement and called him out on HBO.

Floyd Mayweather is honorable. See, he never stooped to dragging GGG down to 154 to fight him. If Floyd would have done that -- it would have been despicable. GGG just made a stupid statement, and Floyd -- being and honorable man -- understood this.

Incidentally, this Barcham fellow. He rather specializes in stupidity I've noticed.

Multiple sources reported that Ward signed a 3 fight deal with HBO, and that the third fight is Kovalev. This is no long-term promotional deal that he can't get out of and might get shafted from. HBO's the quality control in this case, and we're getting Kovalev vs Ward. It's a great fight, Ward agreed to it, look over any past sins and respect him for it :)

The third fight is "potentially" Kovalev. I specifically looked at quoted announcements from HBO, and there was nothing definite in them.

Whoever your "multiple sources" are, they were doing free interpretation of the actual announcement.

HBO probably has some damage control in their contract, so Ward will not get most of the money after he refuses to fight.

If Floyd fought GGG at 154, they would be meeting in the middle which is fair.

Ward dragged Dawson down to his weight. Of course, Dawson could have been smarter and refused. Nobody twisted his arms. Ward's win is definitely tainted though.

From the bottom of that yahoo post...
"Ward’s deal includes three fights. Once on the Cotto-Canelo undercard, then again next spring with the final fight being against Kovalev (28-0-1, 25 KOs) in what could possibly be for the mythical pound-for-pound title."

If that's not good enough for you check out Fat Dan's report...

Don't turn a blind eye to Andre Wards achievements. If you want to criticize a man for something at least be truthful. Don't start making up garbage. Chad Dawson after his rematch with Bernard Hopkins in the post fight interview called out Andre Ward and said he will fight Ward at 168. Ward didn't make that stipulation and say come fight me at a catch weight at 168. Dawson called Ward out and said he would come down to 168 to fight Ward. The only thing Andre Ward did was accept the challenge. And remember by Dawson moving down to 168 that meant Dawson's LHW Title was not on the line. This is a situation where a LHW champion issued a challenge to a SMW champion and was willing to come down to the SMW champions weight. Ward took him up on that challenge. Keep it real please. As far as Ward picking on smaller fighters like Golovkin, Andre Ward never picked on Golovkin get your facts straight. Golovkin and his team issued a challenge to fight anybody from 154-168 and just like the Dawson situation all Andre Ward did was answer the challenge. Then Golovkin's team starts coming up with catch weights. When it comes to honor you seem pretty quiet on Golovkin's challenge. What hypocracy. Ward didn't call out Golovkin he just responded to a challenge. No criticism for Golovkin all the criticism for Ward. While you are tearing up Andre Ward he just signed up to fight Kovalev. Moving up a division to fight Kovalev. Ward did clean out his division have you forgotten all about that? Froch did duck the rematch, have you forgot that also? Let's just see who the best man is.

Ward will feel like a better fighter at 175 pounds. He wont have to work so hard to cut the weight and at this age its his natural weight class. But this whole 1 year to get acclimated to 175 is BS. He has had 3 years to acclimate already.

They say that this is a "first step" towards Ward fighting Kovalev:rofl

Wonder how many steps he's going to need?
