Ward is a sneaker nerd. I bet he has some pairs that are worth a lot of money. I could be wrong but if he is sponsored by the Jordan wing of Nike he gets those sneakers he wants for dirt cheap or maybe all free. But he shouldn't put that stuff out on the internet. Don't want somebody to rob your house.

Nice. I will have to check out some more of their stuff. I've been aware of them for decades but I've never really sat and listened to a whole album of theirs or anything. They did a version of Dirty Old Town before The Pogues did, I love the Pogues one.

If I had never laid eyes on the singer before (Ronnie Drew the big beard man) and someone asked me to guess his nationality, I would bet my life and everything I own with 100% certainty that he was an Irishman. That's an Irish looking man if ever I saw one.

    Haha, yup, fairly quintessential!

They were like an earlier version of the Pogues.

The Pogues came along and took the old Irish songs that The Dubliners would have done and added that 80s punk attitude.

Almost like how Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys added another modern edge to the same songs in the 2000s

They've been around forever. Longer than I thought they had. Over 50 years.

Never heard of Flogging Molly. The Dropkick Murphys I have heard of but I know nothing about them. I prefer traditional Irish music.

This is great and the Fairport Convention version is even better, IMO.

Got it on in the background. Making me feel even more sleepy than I already do. Nice tune to listen to before I hit the hay. :D

My dad got me into them when I was about 5. I think the Rum album had just been released.

I saw them in Sheffield in 2008 and 2009.

They were absolutely brilliant and Shane was in fine form.

Both gigs were at Christmas, and they had a snow machine for Fairytale.

    It was amazing.

I never knew you listened to the Fairports.

I'm going to go to their Cropredy festival this year.

You seem to know your music.

Do you like Rory Gallagher and Planxty?

I saw Andy Irvine a few years ago.

Roy must have influenced him with his Jordan boxing boots.

    Indeed I do!

Christy Moore is still going after all these years.
I think everyone in Ireland had some of his albums growing up!

Cool. I bet they're a great band to see live. They've played in a venue near where I live before and I could hear the music from my front door.

Shane Macgowen used to drink in a pub a couple of miles from where I live too. My friend who also drank there used to see him propping up the bar. He said he (Macgowan) often had a big bag of acid and pills with him lol. Another friend of mine saw them in concert once too and he said after the concert they invited him and a group of their other fans backstage (or it might have been to one of their hotel rooms actually) and gave them drinks all night. He said they were really friendly and chatted with them for hours.
