Andre wards first year comeback

Ward’s trainer, Virgil Hunter, told The Times in text messages Thursday that Ward has already begun rehabilitation and is considering a return date in early 2016.

Another individual close to Ward told The Times that Ward was seeking to fight at least once more in 2016 before pursuing an anticipated date against light-heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev by the end of the year. It’s unclear if the injury will alter those plans.


Even Kovalev said that Ward is expected to fight three times in 2016. There is also articles from bscene where Ward said that's what he plans on doing.

Ward (28-0, 15 KOs) told reporters Friday that he’s planning for a February bout since a knee injury he sustained in training prevented him from fighting on Saturday’s Miguel Cotto-Saul “Canelo” Alvarez undercard at Mandalay Bay.

We just have to wait and see.

 

I read somewhere that on WBA convention on the past weekend team Ward was pushing to rank Alex Brand higher to be able to fight him as a legitimate opponent at 172. Can somebody confirm? Hopefully this is true, we want to see the champ in the ring asap vs a ranked guy!

 

I think Ward is done. People will be surprised how easily Kovalev handles him.

Just a very lost year, all he had to do was fight. He beat Smith and created lots of buzz and that was short lived. He created more buzz with the talks of the Kovalev fight on HBO in 2016 but again who really knows if that materializes

 

Does it really matter who he fights to these haters? People only want to see him fight 1 guy. And that's because it's assumed he will KO Ward. And when he gets beat, like everyone else, they will want Ward to move up to HW.

168 has guys not named Froch or Kessler with belts who have fought on American tv

175 is red hot

He just has to go out and fight

 

True. He should be staying active...if he's not injured. And there are options. But, I think he should focus only on potential fights at LHW.

 

If he were to beat Stevenson and Kovalev he would be in some all time great discussions
