How do you know that? If you break your hand you can expect not to be back training for up to two months....After that there is, rehab, negotiations, camp, along with everything else...Of couse he knew he was going to be out for so long....How could he commit to Bute when he was on a layoff?

I wouldn't say he was sluggish or slow. in fact I think this was around the physical peak of Kessler.

but yes he did not have stamina due to the lack of training. still they thought they could win despite it.

This is Wards dilemma, does he go on the road and make quick/short money or does he stay home and try to become HBO's new golden boy? If he goes on the road he can make a great living but if he stays at home he could make many multiples of what could on the road by becoming the new Floyd, Manny, Oscar . . . etc. also going on the road, especially in the UK were you risk getting a Calslappy KO type lose on your record, some good ole hometown cooking.

For long term success it should be every boxers goal to make in the US . . . unless you do not feel that you exceptional on the world stage. if you are a great domestic fighter, stay close to home and make ok money. however, if you truly great like Pac, go to the US, make tens of millions of dollars because a boxer's career may last 10-15 years at best.

    I'll start it off.

No way any version of Joe could beat Andre. Calzaghe couldn't carry A-Dub's jockstrap. There.

    'injury'

By your logic, pulling out of a fight citing injury constitutes a duck. So Ward already 'ducked' Pavlik by your logic  Yet you call me an idiot:patsch

Also sort your spelling out, your posts are always a ****ing mess to try and read

Hopkins seems to want to fight on until he's 50? A fight with Ward could be the best payday available for him

We will have to wait and see on Dawson, I agree there

Froch and Kessler are both past their best, I agree on that. How far past their best we will have to see after their fight, but if the winner looks good and wins convincingly, it could set up a Ward rematch

True, Ward didn't know want to know when Bute was on top, but he has that option if Bute looks vulnerable against Pascal, no doubt Ward might then feel like taking that fight.

Yes Nathan needs a big fight against one of the big Americans to prove his worth over there, Ward moving up to challenge for the LHW title would be the perfect fight. But it's high risk high reward, not the kind of fight Ward would take

I think that due to the division being at such a time where there arent many top SMWs, Ward needs to let the division build around him for a bit.
If Groves beats Steiglitz and gets a couple of defences in, Ward would have an undefeated world champ to face, and he needs a rival.
DeGale is building up and would give Ward fits with those fast hands and movement

    Great post KO.
Hopkins against Ward would be interesting as Ward seems to fade late on, which is where Hopkins often comes on strong down the stretch.
It tells you something though when we are talking of Ward facing a man of nearly 50

The butt hurt fanboys would like to get on that subject as they struggle that he was the best SMW ever, but he has retired. Problem with Calzaghe is that even though hes retired the SMW division still leads back to him even though there is a new champ.
The new champ Ward has just picked up the pieces that Calzaghe left, which is a shame but after a dominant champ leaves a division its like that until new names develop. Look at MW since Hopkins left some years back. A former WW is now the man and he doesnt have a K Holmes and W Joppy around to get any real interest because it hasnt all grown back.
    Give it time.

In the meantime what do you think Ward should do?
