Not if his management don't want to destroy him, he won't.

Only RJJ ever used SMW as a stop over. The SMW was short on talen between 2001 and 2006 when Limited fighter like Beyer and Otkke had belts, but it is deep with names at the moment.

It makes sense for Ward to fight A.Green right now. There both Americans and on the fringe of being top contenders.

Can't really compare his progress to a guy like Gamboa whose 3000000 miles ahead in terms of talent.

Ward is at the middle right now. Not ready to face the top 5 (maybe even top 8) but developed enough where he needs to pick up the pace against potential bottom top 10-15 guys.

If he isn't ready for a higher level than he is facing now, then he isn't developing as fast as they thought he would.

He is just a bit behind in the historical sense of Medal winning American fighters. That is the standard he is being held to, rightly or wrongly.

Could Ward be doing what Dawson did a few years back ... build up his resume at the lower weight classes and then make his title run at a higher weight?

Dawson held regional belts at 160, 168, and 175 -- when it came time to make a decision for a title run he choose 175.

Ward is active and he's fighting the right fighters but shouldn't he atleast be fighting 12 rounds by now? Shouldn't he be fighting for a regional belt in attempts to defend it against stiffer competition?

No excuse for green he's done ... he should fight Ward because he could stand to get more recognition but he won't win because he's always looking at his feet.

True.....but remember, even more recently, DLH won a title in 2 years, Mayweather won a title in 2 yrs. I think Juan Diaz was an Olympian though not a medal winning one and had a title in 4 yrs. Ward is going into this fourth year, and he isn't even fighting top 15 guys yet. So some of the natives might be getting restless.

We will see. Ward is the most talented fighter at 168. With a few more fights under his belt, he will be Waxing guys like Kessler, and Bute.

But the thing is, its not only Ward that you guys will have to worry about, there will be Dirrell who is about to fight Anthony Hanshaw.

then there is McGirt Jr, Marcus Johnson, oh sh*t gotta run.......Time to eat:hi: Back later

Well, I am happy with him so far. I am a patient man and I am not in a hurry. I want to see the boy taken care of well, even if he is a bit on the slow side.

I'm not sure what his place in the SMW division is

Actually, I am quite sure. His place is as a fringe contender at best.

Maybe you're right. I'm just not a very patient guy. I remember when this guy came out of the olympics. He had a good amount of hype surrounding him. I think his second or third fight was on ESPN. He got dropped in that fight. I think that might have scared his handlers. I've seen him on T.V once since.
