Doesn't matter where Ward fights Kessler. He's going to get a beating.

I'm not saying he should of gone in and traded blow-for-blow with Froch in the centre of the ring. But the guy did nothing. He didn't want to fight. He didn't want to engage. He didn't want to be in a boxing match. He wanted to run around the ring away from trouble all night and occassionally flick a jab or straight left. He only stepped up his game in the last couple of rounds, THAT's what he should of done all fight. He has the skills & talent to beat Froch, he showed that in the championship rounds, unfortunately it came all-to-late and he was left to go home empty handed because of sheer negativity and lack of ambition in the ring.

Floyd engages. He looks to counter. He looks for opportunities. He looks to win. Dirrell ran, clinched, complained, clinched some more, complained some more, and than ran again. Floyd might not throw the combinations either, but he looks to land, if he sees an opportunity to land, he'll throw some leather. Dirrell did no such thing. Froch was open all night and Dirrell made no attempt to throw shots and try and make a statement & wrestle that belt away.

they could be.... who's to say kessler wont come to the states for his next fight against ward and get robbed.... wards just suggesting he will get fair treatment.. but who's to say he won't get unfair treatment

but i mean if we look at this objectively...

froch landed at a terrible %
dirrell outlanded him over the fight

i mean i would kind of understand your point if the punch count (even tho there is no true punch count) was close to even.... but dirrell totally outlanded him over teh fight... i mean nobody complains when bhop holds.... it just frustrates me so much that guys are given flak for using techniques that are allowed... imo his last couple rounds were his worse... he just got a bit tired so he didnt move around as much...

he fought great man.. controlled the fight, fought off his back legs, outlanded... am i missing something?

i mean i dont want to argue about this any more ... it sucks... but i just hate that guys who fight in a pro defensive way get penalized in doing so....

i mean if you were a trainer and had to develop a game plan for dirrell to beat froch... the game plan unraveled perfectly last night...

it was a close scrappy fight, imagine the other way round. a euro coming to america to fight a undefeated WBC champ and ran and was negative and he becomes a world champ?

come on guys be realistic and stop all this sad for boxing ****. it was a close fight and there are different ways to score fights. ie rewarding agression and a willingness to engage

Gary Shaw didnt have any complaints about the decision. it was a close fight that could have gone either way and dont forget about the deducted point- it was key

what you should be asking yourself is if

    dirrell was from the uk
    and
    froch was from the states

would the results be the same?

well you must know by now that the yanks have to have their favourites at home lol, why do you think Floyd never fought abroad?. Its a valid question you nuthuggers. I mean llok at the 'geats of the last 20 years? , they all fought abroad at least once, but PBF? never and I bet he wont. that what makes a true 'world' Champion

You could also look at it another way. If Froch, being Champion was from the states. Dirrell was an unknown challenger from the UK. And this fight took place in the US. I would be absolutely stunned if the judges gave it to Dirrell. Right or wrong that is my honest opinion.

Oh really? Did you suspect somebody was paying Dirrell to take a dive? Coz according to your account of the fight, Dirrell was actually "fighting" to lose...

I don't know the connect percentages, but CompuBox numbers as we all know don't tell the story. There are plenty of other facts in a boxing match other than merely punches landed.

His last couple of rounds were by far his best. He clearly won the rounds, because he threw and landed more punches, was more aggressive & effective in that term, and was more willing to engage. If he had done that for the whole fight, he would of won no doubt.

Yes, you are. Many judges actually want to want a fight. They actually look for a guy to engage and show some willingness to want to win. Dirrell looked like he wanted a light-sparring session in there. He didn't show the ambition of rounds 11 & 12 throughout the fight, ambition that would of won him the fight clearly.

#1, we're not argueing. I respect your points, I'm taking it into consideration and we're having a reasonable & logical debate. This isn't personal, and isn't meant in haste, I'm just projecting my view & we're just talking about the sport we love.

#2 - Pro-defense is fine, but you need to back it up. Dirrell did very little to back up his constant lateral movement yesterday. It was very similar to the Whitaker v De La Hoya fight. Pernell was great defensively, but did very little in the way of attack and De La Hoya forced the fight. Froch did the same yesterday, and that's why the judges gave him the win.

It didn't. Yes he got out relatively unscathed, but if I was Dirrell's trainer, I would of told him to fight exactly as he did in the last 2 rounds for the majority of the fight, perhaps taking every 3rd round off as Chad Dawson does at times, particular Tarver II. Instead, he payed for his negative approach.
