There's a new Beast in the 168 lb division. 2004 Gold Medalist Andre Ward just schooled Edison Miranda on Showtime! This guy looked amazing against his first real quality opponent. After this match against a guy who has only lost to Kelly Pavlik and Arthur Abraham 2x.

Unlike Chad Dawson's unimpressive victory over a tougher than expected Antonio Tarver, which did nothing to enhance his standing in the Light Heavy weight division... or provoke a Bernard Hopkins fight... Ward did not dissappoint.

He just took out a tough guy with ease. He showed all-around skill and will definitely be one of the top dogs in the Super Middleweight division in the coming years. Yes, he is still relatively inexperienced and has yet to fully pay his dues. However, he is a winner. The 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist is undefeated.

Who would everybody like to see this guy face next?

    My list in any order:

    Kessler
    Bute
    Froch
    Pavlik
    Abraham

no way. No need to rush him so quickly. I think he can become a very special fighter if moved along the right way.

My say would be take a step back, fight 1 or 2 journeyman, then a guy like Bika or maybe 2 guys like that, maybe a guy like Pascal. and then take on a weak title-holder in something like 12-16 months.

    He's only just turned 25

Its a good performance, nothing to cheer about though. Miranda was open all day today, but ward wasnt able to close the show. He might be able to get a WBO title, but hes not ready for any of the big 3 champs.

Ward is very skilled. He showed a lot of versatility not only outboxing Miranda, but outpowering him.. just mugging him when they're on the inside.. I am quite impressed.

Not too much punching power though.. never really went in for the kill either.. needs to be more active..

Some of you guys on here must not have been watching this fight. He looked really polished for a young fighter. I realize that he is in the early stages of what looks like a potentially excellent career, but if the guy's ready and impressive... give him his shot! He's 19-0 with 12 ko's. He won the gold medal (Which should put him a step or two above others with a pro record like his).

I agree.. he may not be ready for Pavlik or Abraham, but you're really gonna tell me you don't think he could stand his ground against Froch? I bet Froch tried to duck him (that's his mandatory). Either way, I would look forward to it! Great fight!

Im not sure what that 116-112 was all about, damn just think how the guy would have scored the fight had Miranda actaully won more then the 2nd round.

Even the 2nd round was debateable, Ward was still able to outbox Miranda most of the round though Miranda did land a few good punches.

While it would've been nice to see Ward step on the throttle to try and seal the deal, he knew Miranda's only chance to win would be if he got sloppy and left the door open for Edison to take advantage of it- by fighting conservatively, Miranda's chances for victory were slammed shut. Besides, Edison's only been finished off by power punchers, and that's not what Andre is.

The win puts Ward solidly into "contender" status; I wouldn't mind seeing him fight Bika or even a fight with someone a level below that for his next 2-3 fights, and if he gets through that, he should be ready for a title shot.

Glad to see Ward defeat this tomato can, now Miranda can make all the excuses he wants and get the hell out of the scene and back to the tomato can rankings where he belongs.

I don't see Ward beating the champions yet. He also needs to stop holding so much.

Ward lacks power ...This will hurt him against the top dogs...

He is the mandatory against Froch. Let's see what happens. I think he has a really good shot at beating Bute and Froch. If they make him pay the waiting game I guess he could get another fight or two in until he gets his shot.

That never stopped Pernell Whitaker. Ward doesn't mind boxing to a decision. He has the skillset to compete with anyone at 168. Carl Froch will be his next big test. It's a perfect match.
