I doubt it. He's taken his sweet ass time to make this decision leading me to believe that he's fairly certain.
Aaah, I had a soft spot for him. He was a good technical fighter, but I suppose lacked physical gifts. That Alexander fight was a travesty, I wonder how it affected him mentally.
He didn't have explosive pop, but who needs it really? As long as you have the strength and heavy-handedness (and knowledge of how to turn your shots over to make them count) to get your opponent's respect - and he did have that - you can be competitive at a high level. In very rare cases some guys can be competitive without even having that, but such wasn't the case with Kotelnik, I don't think. (another thing he has in common with D-Rod, actually - besides the hard luck streak of bad decisions going against them) He got Maidana's respect, as was mentioned earlier. Not everyone who doesn't have a high KO ratio or many highlight reel entries can necessarily be classed as feather fisted. I'd say in the grand scheme of things, taking into account how many truly feather fisted boxers there are and how much rarer true concussive 1-punch KO power actually is than people think it is - guys like Delvin and Andreas should probably be called average hitters. Not hard, not light - average. :good
HBO screwed him over for making the house fighter look bad. They are doing the same thing to Pirog, even though he's fighting again on HBO. Pacquiao is another HBO house fighter that they are building up. I remember they did the same thing with Mosley before Forrest beat him. Bradley may beat Pac. I think Kotelnik could've given Pac a good fight, but of course HBO has its agenda.
