Former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski will make his professional boxing debut on April 11 at The Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on the undercard of the Paul Williams vs. Winky Wright middleweight fight event on HBO according to Arlovski’s manager Bill Keane via ESPN.com.

An opponent has yet to be named.

Under the tutelage of world renowned boxing trainer Freddie Roach, who has been working with “The Pitbull” over the past year or so to help him improve his striking, Arlovski has apparently signed with Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions to take a crack at the sweet science after coming up short in his WAMMA world title fight against champion Fedor Emelianenko back on January 24 at Affliction: “Day of Reckoning.”

Prior to that the Belarusian was seen devouring IFL veteran Roy “Big Country” Nelson at EliteXC ‘Heat’ on October 4 of 2008. After losing back-to-back fights in the UFC against Tim Sylvia, Arlovski went on to win five of six with four (T)KO’s.

He was originally rumored to be making his debut last September in the opening fight on the Casamayor vs. Marquez card in on an HBO pay-per-view (PPV) telecast against an unnamed opponent. While that didn’t materialize, Roach was eager to get him lined up after the Emelianenko bout, even mentioning a possible throwdown with current WBA heavyweight title holder Nikolai Valuev.

    Fortunately cooler heads prevailed.
The Pitbull has always been considered one of the top strikers in mixed martial arts, but it’s anybody’s guess as to how that talent would transfer over to a world championship boxing match against a monster like Valuev. Or any pro boxer for that matter.

    Time will tell.

Well this brings up the question. Could he hang? I personally don't think he can, his chin is ****. But besides that he's got a great standing game in MMA standards...let's just wait and see I suppose...

Arvlovski may go a bit of a ways in this sport, we'll see, sure he has a bad chin, but remember getting hit with practically bare knuckles and getting hit with boxing gloves are 2 totally different things.

He does not have the Chin for Boxing.

His Glass Jaw will get shattered as soon he he fights a decent fighter.

I expect his career to be like Mark Gastineau. He will be fed a bunch on bums then he is going to get brutally KOed as soon as he steps it up.
