I like AA i really do. He's a very humble guy who really seems to try his hardest but that chin man..... Glad he's realised he needs to remember his Sambo instead of trying to stand and bang when his chin is sooo poor. Oh well at least we dont get to see him make his pro debut thank god. Would have been brutal like the Rogers KO.

I thought AA would be a good boxer, it just goes to show that the best MMA boxers striking is average.

He may not be that bad in boxing, thought i do not think he should bother with it.

5oz gloves in MMA are, obviously, different to boxing ones.

The bigger, heavier boxing gloves dispels alot of the punchers energy on impact, so less like to KO compared to 5oz MMA ones.

    But he shouldn't box anyway.

AA's boxing skills are overrated to the extreme. Much the same as Silva's Belforts and Jens Pulver. MMA guys like to flirt with boxing but boxing is a sport that needs 100% dedication as your only weapon is your fists. That takes an incredibly long time to become conditioned too. AA simply doesnt have the tools.

His boxing was the only reason he was beating Fedor and the only reason he lost to Rogers. It's not like boxing tells you to stick your chin up, put your arms straight out and walk backwards when someone comes towards you punching. It tells you exactly how to defend against what happened to him and he just spaced it. There's nothing in his last two losses that more sambo or JJ would have helped with.

He's just looking for a scapegoat, when in reality it's him that lost the fight because he didn't do the right things in the ring.

AA is merely saying what we all have been for a long time. Boxing doesn't translate into MMA. Boxing is good for boxing, if you come out thinking boxing you are gonna try blocking shots like you do in boxing, well with the size difference in the gloves thats NOT a good plan. Badanga badanga badanga you're out! AA needs to remember his Sambo and sidestep engage with the body and "dirty" box or go for the takedown. Nobody should box like you would in a boxing match in an MMA match.

For the record, he never said boxing doesn't translate to mma.

That's the title of the article to feud this boxing vs mma debate.

And I'm sorry but did Freddy Roach tell him to throw that ridiculous looking knee at Fedor? No

Did he teach Arlovski to throw 2 leg kicks at Rogers with his chin exposed?
    Nope.

Who ever his KickBoxing trainer is ,he needs to tell him to keep his guard up when throwing kicks/knees.

And guys act like he was a sub master, he has 3 subs and 11 ko victories.

All ko by Punches, and this mostly was before he got with Roach.

When he was a "Sambo Jujitsu' fighter, he got ktfo by one of the worst fighters in mma, Datsik 4-9.He has a history of droping his hands against even bad fighters.

And as for boxing not working in mma, rampage praised his new boxing trainer after the Wanderlei Ko.Remember that?

He (rampage) neglected to train in boxing for his last fight against jardine. And that fight went the distance.

So AA has a world class boxing trainer so that must mean he HAS to be good? But then you'd like to see AA vs a shot Tommy Morrison. I assure you under Marquis of Queensbury AA gets knocked out even vs a 50 year old Tommy. You dont seem that privvy to AA's career. Maybe you should go and watch some tape. Actually start with the Datsik fight.

Arlovski's mind goes blank and he panics under pressure.

    That's Arlovski's biggest problem.

He's like a really bad version of Wlad. :D

I totally disagree and consider his words excuses. Against Fedor, he lost because he lunged in and he was unbelievably open to a devastating counter. Against Rogers, he left his leg out there, was off balance and open to a punch. Both times he lost because he was doing something with his legs and was open to punches.

I personally feel boxing translates extremely well to MMA and as long as you build upon it you can be extremely successful.

Arlovski is good at boxing? That is news to me, especially at any relevent level.

There is tape of him on youtube of getting dropped in sparring by an 18 year golden gloves heavyweight. Hardly top-class for a "professional."
