    After the 1976 Summer Olympics,,,,,

    Went back up to (67 Kg) Welterweight Division, and went on to win several late-1976
    Tournaments, and then went on to win the 1977 Cuban Nationals (January 1977), and
    the 'prestigous' Batalla de Carabobo Tournament in Venezuela June 1977.

    Famous Manager- Ramiro Machado attempted to get Andres Aldama to defect during
    that visit, but could not rope 'The Cuban Assassin' in.

    Andres Aldama

    Went up to the (67 Kg) Welterweight Division in early 1977.

    He won the Gold medal at the;
    * January - 'Playa Giron Tournament'
    * March - 'Caribbean Spring Championships'
    * April - 'International Boxing Event'
    * June 1977 - 'Batalla de Carabobo' (Andres defeated American - Roosevelt Green (3:2) in the Finals)
    * July 1977 - 'Caribbean & South American Cup'

    By August 1977, he was back down to (63.5 Kg) Light-Welterweight

    He won the Gold Medal at the;
    * August 1977 - Central American & Caribbean Championships
    * September 1977 - Army Championships
    * October 1977 - Caribbean Island Tournament
    * November 1977 - He also defeated American - Ronnie Shields (5:0) at a Cuba vs. USA meet
