Galota has the ability to beat the **** out of Galento, but if Galento keeps eating bombs (and it'll take a few rounds of breaking him down as Tony took some massive shots over 3 rounds against Louis and Golota is not a puncher IMO) then I say Golota gets frustrated and starts low blowing him.
Golota beats up Galento for 14 rounds and quits in 15th. Seriously now, prime Golota kills Galento in 10th
Any fighter that could get into Golota's head could beat him. Hes shown mental lapses against fringe contenders like Samson Pouhua all the way up to Lennox Lewis, Mike Tyson and Riddick Bowe. Golota was probably physically one of the better skilled euro boxers, he punched hard, had a good stiff jab and could actually riddle off a good combination here and there, but his mental state was never right for boxing. Tragic really, because in the gym his trainers felt he was physically ready for the title, far earlier than his stablemate David Tua, and most of the young contenders that were coming up at the same time.
I have zero respect for Golata. He was overated to start and a nut case to boot. I can see Galento coming out fast, blasting him with a big hook , hurting him and teeing off till it is stopped. Can anyone name a big fight Golata won ?
Because people actually still refer to him as a talented underachiever. To me if you lack mental strength as a fighter it's a huge difficency ...
I agree with that. The better part of boxing is having a strong mental state. The lure of physical ability can sometimes overshadow the other, as was the case with Golota and probably many others.
