He never had the eye of the tiger, sort of speaking.
But for a HW, his skills were all in place to be a champ. Go back to his early fights, and check out that snappy, crisp jab. No HW at that time had anything like it. The jab was dulled a lot after his car accident in which he suffered an arm injury.

Personally, against Bowe, it is my opinion that this was (at least for the first few rounds) one of the best I have seen.

However, he had to foul and cheat his way through and still couldn't win. Physically he was all there, mentally he was very weak.

to say Andrew Golota was weak mentally is ignorant and stoopitt. He got to the top 5 in the world in HWT rankings and totally destroyed the then #1 Bowe. Phsyically beat him up, severely altered his being.

Golota had the skills and the physicality to be the best but he wasn't quite mentally strong enough. He was not weak in the mind but he was just not as strong in the mind as the #1 man Lennox Lewis.

Late in his career he almost won the title with a bad left arm and fading skills. most people say he beat ruizzzzz and byrd. the guy was almost 40. He was mentally strong to get almost to the top with what he had left. again, he was just not mentally strong enough.

to say he is mentally weak, again, is stoopitt and ignorant.

Yes, he showed mental toughness and fortitude to quit against Tyson, foul repeatedly against Bowe, Nicholson and Pou'ha.

He was mentally weak in terms of a boxer then. Or at least has shown signs of mental fragility. Call it what you want, but psychological he was found wanting on more than one occasion.

Golota probably got the big fights too early. He didnt fight any top fighters, ant then he had to fight Riddick Bowe, Lennox Lewis. Later, despite being past his prime and after serious injury - car accident, almost won the titles (Byrd, Ruiz).

Well, nobody had even heard of him until they gave Bowe a keep busy fight so you may have a point. But in terms of the fouling this also came at the lower levels.

He was not mentally seasoned and let his pride get in the way.

Golota is the quintesential definition of a bully....

He can dish out a **** load of punishment, but he cant take any :-(

He actually came to america because he ****ed up some poor guy in poland...and the cops were looking for him :huh

He loves to hit other people, except when it comes time for him to get hit, he crumbles....
