Andrew Golota. stop underrating this man.Could have been ATG

  1. Andrew Golota from the start of his career to his fights with Riddick Bowe was one of the most amazing and talented HW'S the division has ever seen and that is a undeniable fact.

The Riddick Bowe fights took NOTHING out of him and he managed to beat a semi prime Bowe into coma status. He looked surreal against Bowe in back to back beat downs. The repeated Low blows were just something from reflective chronicogical issues and had nothing to do with boxing abilities.

Golota could have been an ATG. It is what it is.

I personally think Golota was the most talented and amazing fighter Poland has ever produced.

All the losses that came after Lewis honestly did not count. The only thing I hated about Lennox Lewis was the fact he took Golota's prime in one round. That one round changed Andrew, it took everything out of him. His confidence, his warrior mentality, his everything. It was ****ing sickening tbh. Lennox knew what he was doing, he knew the beat down would change Andrew forever and Lennox still did it.

Oh wells a toast to Andrew Golota for all the memories and for all the 'what could have beens'

Bowe's five minute prime was up when he fought Golota the first time...

I agree though, Golota was very skilled. Great jab, good combination punching and power, solid jaw and a decent boxing brain when he decided to use it.

    ATG though? Not quite.

Golota had the potential to be a ATG, but when it most mattered his concentration shattered, this showed particularly in both Bowe fights( low blows repeatedly), and against Lewis and Brewster

    Golota's mental faculties betrayed him.

Golota is the biggest glass bodied disgrace EVER; from his brain to his skin to his chin to his heart the man was one big sheet of glass. His chin and heart were breached more times them Kim Kardashian's vagina.

Golota never had the mental strength - you're also overrating his abilities based on his two losses to Bowe.

Let's not get carried away. Other than the Bowe fights, when did Golota ever show anything like ATG level talent?

Even if you make that leap of faith and assume that he had ATG ability, mental attributes are an equally important part of the overall package. In that area, Golota was amongst the worst I have ever seen. Inexplicable fouls, pre-fight meltdowns, quitting in fights he was winning comfortably, etc. These weren't isolated incidents or lingering residue from the Lewis fight; it was a trend throughout his career. Before the Lewis blow-out, he had trouble and almost threw it away against Samson Po'Uha and Danell Nicholson.

He is the prime example of a Bully. He is a bad ass until someone decides not to fold. Then Golota implodes :nut

I really thought he had the skills to beat Michael Grant (almost) and Tyson.

    But mentally, he's weak.

By potential, could be an ATG.

And this makes him have an ATG status does it? He also lost to Byrd and Ruiz albeit by not particularly wide margins. He beat Mollo. Wow. Jameel McCline also beat him right after.

Coulda,Shoulda,Woulda,Budda. Mental strength is a quality needed to be an ATG and he lacked it.

I dont rate Byrd or Ruiz as champions really, Lennox was the champ, they were paper titlists. However, Golota was shot in those fights.

Honestly, Golota did deserve to win both of those fights. They were not blatant robberies, but Golota did enough IMO

Too bad he never even got a paper title, it just goes to show you how downhill the division went when Lennox left. Byrd and Ruiz have claims to a "championship".

Yeah fair enough. I mean, he lost officially on both counts - the only decision I really argued at the time was Ruiz. Golota for me did not do enough down the stretch to capitalise on the knockdowns. Both were close. Horses for courses I suppose. Golota was on the downward spiral in both fight but he hardly could rely on what he had done in his prime if we are to argue an ATG status.
