Andrew Golota vs Oliver McCall....who ya got?

This is a great fight. I lean in favor of McCall, giving him 60% chance of victory against 40% for Golota.

If McCall wins, it would most likely be by stoppage later in the fight. I could see McCall walking Golota down, timing him, then pouring on the powerpunches after the eighth. Check McCall's win over Bruce Seldon for an example of what I mean.

On the other hand, Golota could win by establishing his left jab, and fighting a cool headed, competent technical fight. Golota would have to jab and clinch to stay head, and I think he had the tools and physical attributes to do this. In this scenario, Golota wins a close but clear decision.

Overall, though, I would bet on McCall, but cautiously.

 

But remember that McCall had (and possibly still has) a devastating right hand. He could knock out anyone with that punch.

Both guys live, I believe, in Chicago. It would have been a good hometown fight. Winner could take on Oquendo.

It's a tough call. One guy is more skilled perhaps, the other more durable. I'd pick McCAll. In doubt, pick the guy who has managed to rise to the occasion a few times.

 

McCall probably doesn't exert enough pressure to make Golota quit.

So i'll take Golota by UD, because of his vastly superior skills.

 

He really doesnt. He caught Lennox Lewis wide open coming forward and Lewis still managed to get up. He caught Maskaev cold in the first round, but Mcall doesnt have the reputation as a big puncher. It takes more than one shot to make Golota quit and I dont think Mcall can do it.

 

Both are Chicagoans (well, obviously Golota was born in Poland), but Oquendo gets smoked by Golota, I think he could put up a good fight against McCall though. As for Golota/McCall, in a vacuum assuming there's no allergic reactions and they keep their heads on straight, Golota wins easily. Then again it's Golota we're talking about, and McCall, so who knows.

Golota was an average boxer who had the tools to seemingly fight a great fight but the mentality of someone not cut out for the sport.

No way will he keep calm seeing his shots have no affect on mccall. Come from behind stoppage by oliver.

 

Golota wasnt an average boxer. He was above average. Mcall was an average boxer.

 

The bell rings for the first round and McCall moves to the middle of the ring, throws a 1-2 and then starts crying. Golota, sensing this weakness in his opponent, moves in for the kill, and begins punching him in the balls repeatedly.

The fight is declared a draw.

 

I can see Golota beating McCall like he did to Bowe. McCall wins this fight by virtue of Golota's low blow frustration. The question is whether Golota has the discipline to keep his body punches up, because he's the better fighter of the two.
