Andrew Golota vs. Ray Mercer (1996)

    Can the foul-plagued Golota overcome the erratic Ray Mercer?

    I think Mercer was the tougher mentally but Andrew had the skills to outbox Ray. I favor Ray here, Andrew finds a way to lose.

    I agree with this, Golota would land some good shots on Ray but gets discouraged and finds a way to get TKO'ed late

    It almost happened in 1997! That being said, Golota would have beaten Mercer if they fought in '96 or in '98, '99, or '00. If later he would have probably lost as his prime was nearing its end point. In '97 Golota likely would not beat any elite fighter because he was mentally shot and still recovering psychologically from the fallout of the two Bowe bouts ending in disqualification and everyone talking about the low blows.
