The fight that I SAW Kotelnik landed about twice as many punches as Devon... in his spurts of course! This is coming from an Alexander fan.

IIRC Ortiz was actually meant to fight Kotelnik instead of Maidana :yep

A deal was agreed in principle for Kotelnik to go over to the US and defend against Ortiz. However, Frank Warren came in with a better deal for Kotelnik to fight Khan and Kotelnik signed for that fight.

So, instead GBP thought they would fight the guy who had lost a SD to Kotelnik (Maidana) for the interim title and then hopefully Victor could fight the winner of Khan/Kotelnik for the full title.

Didn't all go to plan :D

Believe me noone is gonna drop or Ko Kotelnik, this fight would go full distance if it happens. He had great amateur career and faced in pro such fighters as Mbaye, Rees, Witter, Khan, Maidana, Alexander and he hasn't ever been down in amateurs or pro, even more i've never seen him wobbled or hurt.

I think only Corley has better opposition on his resume at 140.

    Has Kotelnik never been down?

Christ. If true, he may have the best chin in boxing.

I think Ortiz will be able to handle Kotelnik. He''s big, fast and skillful enough to win rounds handily enough. And Kotelnik wont have the power or the style to put him under pressure.

Ortiz will have to earn his win in this one.

Kotelnik has an iron chin as well, so this will deff be an interesting clash of styles.

But Golden Boy wouldn't have Kotelnik in there if he planned on winning, they already had one oops with Ortiz so I wonder how it will pan out.

    Ortiz UD Kotelnik.

That was another fight that showed how much of a joke Compubox is. I don't know who did it that night, but Devon Alexander got a win throwing a hundred punches at a man's gloves while eating clean counters. You don't get credit for punches that don't land! I don't care how hard he's "working." He looked inept that night and Bradley is going to humiliate him.

maybe so. which is even more remarkable for kotelnik, because he is still fighting at the top level after these opponents, whereas corley quickly stopped fighting as an elite fighter, and quickly became a journeyman

From now on, smart boxers should start every round shadowboxing in their corner for a minute to really rack up that punch count so that the stats will show how much they outworked their opponent.

That's about how much sense it makes to give a guy a fight based on punches thrown.
