  4. So I saw the Jenmings-Szpilka fight live at MSG Theater and the Polish fans were insane. Wild, wild crowd. Wonder if its popping in Chicago tonight.

Doudou hitting the mitts earlier tells me this ought to be weird and short.

Incidentally, tonight wasn't the first time in his WBO title reign Tomoki Kameda has looked immensely flawed and beatable (while, ironically, deserving more rounds than he was given officially by the judges).

I thought he looked pretty shitty given all his prospect hype against both Immanuel Naidjala in his first defense (although I scored it a shutout, wider than all the judges) and Paulus Ambunda before that (I had it 117-111; one judge had it closer) when he first claimed the belt.

He also fought on very even terms with Panya Utok before the KO.

Really ever since he began to step up in class and have important matches the wheels have been coming off. He may be the best Kameda in the clan, butthat doesn't mean he is as special as believed prior to his title run. He may in fact be only slightly better than Koki, and on the same overall tier: world titlist caliber but not elite and unlikely to ever become it.

So him struggling with a fringe world class guy like Payasito Hernandez was no great shock. (though scoring RBR his struggles ought not have translated into that many points for the challenger)

Chicago has a huge Polish population and supports Polish fighters nicely, but it’s not exactly like Adamek in Jersey or Szpilka in NY tonight. For one thing, Fonfara is a regular, which breeds familiarity, and this fight … isn’t very exciting on paper.

Even 40 years ago, this would've been a Heavyweight fight going by each guys' size and in ring weight.

Doesn't mean anything as far as the price of tea in China goes, just interesting to note.
