The Pole is not a complete bum.Far from it! 'But Povetkin wiped the floor with him and Bakhtov is a tough cookie but a beatable one by any decent top 40 heavy weight.To go death and life with someone like Bakhtov doesnt bode well.
I guess even someone like Wilder's last victim Duhaupas must be called the favourite in a match against Wawrzyk.
The problem is that the Pole's chin is far more weaker than the Frenchman's one.

So help me understand: threads ridiculing Wilder for speculation -- speculation on the part of the OP, not actual reports -- that he will fight a guy ... even though he hasn't fought that guy.

Yet who actually gave him a title shot? Povetkin. And not a word criticizing Sasha for actually giviing Wawrzyk a shot at the title? Typical.

 

The OP said this in 2013. I just bumped this thread because Wawrzyk is a possible opponent in 2016. It was a great find actually. Why did not one criticize Povetkin? He fought him in 2013!! After almost one year without being in the ring, against Wawrzyk, who was a prospect back then, unbeaten and beat some names.

So why are we criticizing Wilder? He, instead of fighting Povetkin, wants to fight someone who was destroyed by Povetkin in 2013 and went life and death with journeymen in the past 2 years.

Look at Povetkin's defenses of the WBA title -- a couple of 40-year-olds, Wawrzyk and a cruiserweight.

I never said Wawrzyk was great. He was a prospect, unbeaten, unproven, looked good. He actually looked better than Szpilka in his past. Povetkin chose to fight someone like him for his comeback fight, after a year break.

Whom did Povetkin fight recently?

Wladimir Klitschko - Went 12 rounds, it was a good fight, he could not beat the greatest Heavyweight of our time though. Not a shame, he came to fight, not to survive.

Manuel Charr - He was the first one who was able to knock him out. Even Vitali couldn't do this!

Carlos Takam - Good fighter, decent fighter. Knocked out Botha, Grant. Had a draw with Perez. Clearly outboxed Tony Thompson. Thompson, who beat Solis, Price, who fought twice against Wladimir.

Mike Perez - Good K2 fighter. This guy had some skill!! Fought one of the greatst fights in Heavyweight of the last decade against a monster like Abdusalamov. Took his best shots, outboxed him. Everyone know what appened to Mago after the fight and how this changed a good prospect like Perez. Iron chinned fighter.
Despite just being not the same anymore, he had a draw against Takam and lost through robbery against Jennings. He clearly outboxed him. Even with the point deduction at the end that decided the outcome, he still won and was robbed.

So, who did Wilder fight since 2013?

Wawrzyk -- who you seem to claim is a hella fighter then if anyone fights him after Povetkin he's a bum.

And, again, no one is reporting that Wilder is fighting Wawrzyk. You're making light of one of Sasha's great championship challengers but acting as if Wilder is fighting him.

There were reports that Wilder was going to fight Wawrzyk in September, just as there were reports he was going to fight that Japanese guy and some others ... but those reports were, quite obviously, incorrect.

 

Agree. If he wants to get better (and I'm not convinced he does) he needs more pro rounds against decent guys, even at the risk of losing. They should promote Wilder vs. Wawrzyk as the Super Bowl of glass, when glass chins collide, etc. Gonna be a short night for somebody.

 

He's getting plenty 'pro' rounds already, against bums and no marks.
