is Andy Lee the busiest "contender" in boxing? Feb 2 - beats Alejandro Gustavo Falliga Feb 29 - scheduled against a yet unnamed fighter in Michigan March 21 - Brian Vera April 10 - Willie Gibbs May - returns to fight in Limerick, Ireland June - Winky Wright November - Pavlik or Duddy
If Vera or Gibbs challenge him, then there will be no way he'll even see the seventh round, let alone beat, Winky Wright.
Then again, Winky is a greedy little *****, so the odds Lee's people make him an offer he can't refuse are slim to none.
It's obvious that his camp believes he's ready for the top. This may not be a good idea sending him into so many fights, but he hasn't been challenged yet so he may possibly run through a list of opponents. I also doubt a fight with Winky Wright will go through, he's dreaming of a De La Hoya fight or some other big blockbuster event that most likely won't happen. I'd like to hope Lee's camp is thinking right in their strategy to get Lee to the top as fast as they're trying to do it.
I'd favour Andy against Winky right now, I've seen Andy fight in most of his bouts and he's ready for Winky. He's a very clever 6' 1" southpaw with good stamina, speed, power and a great boxing brain. There may not be enough money in the fight for Winky but id definately favour Andy if it came off.
Lee is a prospect for sure, certainly with more promise than Duddy. But facing Wright would be rushing things. A fight with Zuninga or Zurtuche would be a better choice. If he isn't rushed or mismatched, Lee could be a major player by next year.
