Irish middleweight Andy Lee has revealed that he is unlikely to fulfil a proposed fight at the end of February due to an eye injury.

The Limerick native was due to fight in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on February 29 but a cut over his eye sustained in his impressive win over Alejandro Falliga has thrown his plans into doubt.

Lee, who is undefeated in 25 professional fights, stopped his Argentine opponent in the fifth round and is now expected to lace his gloves again on March 21 against Texan Brian Vera.

Vera featured on the hit US boxing show "The Contender", where he suffered his only defeat in 16 fights.

"Vera is a brawler who never lets up coming forward which should suit me," Lee told the Irish Daily Mirror. "He has a good record and it should be a good bout between contrasting styles.

"I don't think the fight in Michigan at the end of the month will happen as I have a cut over my eye following a clash of heads with Falliga in Limerick last Saturday."

I don't want Lee to fight Pavlik yet. I don't want to see a good prospect like Lee ruined by an experienced fighter like Kelly.

    A) Calzaghe will be looking for Pavlik around then and is a much bigger payday, challenge, scalp etc.

    B) Lee would get ****ed up.
