Andy Lee is Darren Barkers mandatory.

I dont think that Kavanagh, Ormond or Byrne have the power to make it all the way. I am hoping I am wrong on all three accounts and I think of the three that Kavanagh has the best chance with time, attitude, determination, dilligence, promotional contact and trainer all being on his side.

But he doesnt seem to have been able to transfer the power he should in the ams over to the pros - yet anyway.

 

you can see from a few videos of him he can whip in good shots , i have also seen him in the ams up close and you could see he had decent pop . no way is he as feather fisted as malignaggi

I would love to see Lee fight Barker. I believe its a genuine 50/50. I'd go with Barker, i think he could outbox the upright Irishmen over 12. But Lee's speed and power could/will trouble Darren. Would be a good'un. But dear i say it, perhaps Lee has bigger fish to fry at the minute.

 

I hope you're right. Kavanagh has everything he needs make him a star. Goldenboy, top trainer, top sparring, speaks Spanish. So hopefully he'll prove me wrong.

Going back to Barker - Lee... Right now mightn't be the perfect time for them to get it on but I'd love to see them fight for the EBU title in the next few months..

I don't want to accuse Barker of ducking Lee and I'll take the previous posters word that it was messy politics that prevented the fight from happening.

It'll be interesting to see how long Barker keeps the title, it's possible that they could be close to fighting in the next few months and one or both of them then secures a world title shot which messes up the plans. Either way - no doubt people will come on here and post about ducking.

To be honest - both Macklin and Lee were very keen to fight Barker, Lee called him out after the Belgecham fight and Macklin wasn't shy about letting people know how a Macklin - Barker fight would pan out, Barker unfortunately had to pull out through injury. I'm not saying he was faking anything, I'm sure it was genuine but I didn't get the impression from them press conferences that he really believed he could beat Macklin.

Granted, he seems to have changed his tune in recent weeks but it all appears to coincide with Macklin getting a world title fight.

I'm sure Barker will fancy his chances against Lee after seeing his brave but relatively sloppy performance against McEwan. I rate Barker but I feel he's just a notch or two behind Macklin and Lee who similarily are a notch or two behind the best in the division.

 

Met an Irish chap in Thailand who was bangin' on about Kavanagh, any footage of him?he seemed to know his stuff so I'm intrigued:good

 

Power doesn't matter that much at all when you've got a lot of other strengths to negate it. Kavanagh seems to have about as much spark on his punches as a wet pack of matches, but that won't matter if he has the ability in other areas. I'd like to see more of him before trying to predict how far he'll go.

 

Kavanagh is terrible has no power, a silly ring name and wears silly hats :deal

I think the power will come , but over all i can see his record having more UD's than KO's. Will that ever be enought to be in contention for a world title shot i dont know obviously i would hope it will be

But at the end of the day he is only 21 this month and has only 6 fights and has just moved down a weight,

I reckon i will reserve the right to decide were he will end up until fight 12
