Frankie said that the Clever one is the main event! Will Barker's next fight be seen by more viewers than Lee's (assuming ESPN air it)?
Wheres the strong following in Ireland, his last fight was in an arena that seats 2500. So you want him to be another Duddy fighting joke fights infront of americans with irish grandparents and a green t shirt? I don't even rate Andy Lee but I seem to have more faith in him that you lot. Happy with this fight on friday and want him to rematch Vera thats a joke. you shouldnt jsut support a fighter becasue of where there from, it should be becasue they want to take tough fights, challanges and perform well.
Since when do viewing figures matter. If I was an Andy Lee fan id rather he was having a meaningful fight infront is 75 people on basestation than the fight hes having at the MGM Grand on RTE, BBC AND ABC in the states. If it gets 10million viewers in the states, it will be 10million people going....."shouldnt andy lee step it up by now?"
you know it wasnt so long ago when emanuel steward was comparing his young protege to tommy hearns saying that he'll be the new irish version of the Man he once trained i think he said the same thing about Cintron before Kermit met his fate to margerito
Rob you know as well as everyone that lee will step it up after this fight. But whats really bugging you is he might bypass the winner of macklin vs barker in the race to a world title thanks to his american tv coverage.
Since forever! Not only that - Andy Lee's last fight drew more numbers on TV then Mag7 will as well. Lee tried to get Barker, Gevor and Sturm but couldnt (or they wouldnt) thats why he is fighting Cook. :yep p.s. Cook aint all that bad and is on a par with most of Barkers previous opponent in my opinion. In his last eight fights he's only lost one and all his wins have been knockouts.
Well don't accuse others of only supporting Lee because of where he's from when the two fighters you defend/support most on here are Barker and Haye (two Londoners), now where are you from? :huh London isn't it? If you were Ukranian I'm willing to bet you wouldn't be a Haye fan.
If he does that I will say fair play to him.....but Vera doesn't count as a step up and we have been hearing that from his camp for years. 1) The UK TV money provided by sky is far more than the ESPN money in the states. 2) 2 of the title holders our german so US tv does nothing for them 3) the other 2 presuming Jabocs wins will be HBO fighters, HBO have never shown an Andy Lee fight 4) Its not even being shown, and if it does it will be highlights. Add to that Barker vs Macklin winner will be top 10 with every organisation......i highly doubt it.
you havent read to many of my posts latley have you? completly agaisnt Haye. Have always like Barker from day one. He got lucky getting his euro title fight and didnt perform but if he beats Macklin he will prove he is the true champion. He is stepping up to the plate and fighting a world ranked fighter in his back yard, which Lee has never done or shown a willingness to do (calling barker to ireland to fight him)
Rob, stop making a tit of yourself. You dont know if they are showing it or not and are just repeating what another guy on the thread said and making out its gospel. Its all about the shop window - Lee has been out of it - this will help get him back into it. If it was trumped up as a hard fight for a title (like Barker-Belgacham) then we would moan but its not. As long as the highlights are similar to those against Carl Daniels then I will be happy.
1) Its not about money, its about getting seen by millions again on the biggest cable network in the world. 2) Im pretty sure they are after martinez and were only hoping for the sturm fight. 3) Again Martinez is the man they are after and fighting in america will help him get there. 4) You dont know whats getting shown. 5) Lee does not need barker or macklin to get to the top.
