This is Barker's first step up and I wouldn't call it fighting in Macklin's backyard when it is still in England, it's not like Barker's fans will have trouble getting to it so don't try to make it sound as if he's some road warrior or something. Lee wanted Barker, Gevor and Sturm, he is willing to step up but he hasn't got the right opportunity yet.

but he is such a big name in Ireland and fans will love him in New York surley he can offer the big bucks to get those fights?

Matthew Macklin born in Birmingham, still lives in Birmingham.

what you gotta realsie is that when Barkers was nominated for the European title, the fight will have been offered to everyone in the EBU ratings until someone stepped up. Lee will of been offered the fight.

Thats what I thought happens as well.

Strange it hasn't come up before. By the way Steward has always been just about the money, not just now. Ask Bunce to tell you a little story about G-Man and you'll know all you need to about Steward!!!

If Lee was offered the fight surely it would of come up when he was calling Barker out after the Thiam fight. Can anyone clarify, was Lee offered the EBU title shot?

Lee wasnt offered the fight and confirmed he wanted that fight.

I outlined both of those facts on here the day Barker-BelgaSHAM was announced!

 Yeah I thought so, no way would Barker be quiet about it if Lee turned down the fight.

Seeing as Hennesey would have to fax the offer to each contender going down the rankings, and include the EBU. They wouldnt have allowed Belag to take the fight without Lee being offered it first.

    1) The offer was made but low money so they rejected.
    2) The offer was made and rejected.

Barkers not the sort of person to trash talk. Lee isnt even on his radar I bet he has never mentioned his name in an interview.

And as usual you have nothing to back up either of these statements do you? The EBU are making the rules up as they go along these days, look at all the ridiculous title fights they have sanctioned lately. If Lee was offered that fight he would have taken it.
