Spoke to the man himself and he was very keen.

Jumbo (his Brit trainer) would bite your hand off for the fight.

Can't speak for the polish counterparts.

Just about to ask why barker never went to the Olympics :deal

they both trained in the repton boxing club aswell where Lee consistantly out did Barker!

No wonder Lee's name isn't coming out of his mouth :deal

He was looking for fighters in the top 25, Barker and Gevor, but neither of them wanted the fight. Lee shut out Belgecham for 9 out of 10 rounds, Barker struggled badly for 7 rounds out of 12 and was lucky to get the decision.

I agree about a poor performance but lucky to get the decision? Come on.

Lol at the interest andy lee gets when he fights a nobody. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=170289&cat=boxer there is the guy world middle champ martinez boxed 4 fights before he took on alex bunema for the wbc world light middle weight championship. Lees next fight is a keep busy fight nothing more nothing less and is nothing worthy of this much interest.

OK maybe they did want the fights, maybe they didn't, I don't know for sure but my point is Lee is looking for big fights. It's not like he is adverse to travelling either, he's fought in Ireland, Germany and the US. As far as I know Barker and Gevor have only ventured out of their backyards once.

Ah so this and the fact it a "Stay Busy" fight makes it ok??.

I hate fights like this and always kick up a fuss but thats just me.

I still havent calmed down over Bobby Gunn:twisted:

Ive read on here thats not even getting televised so nobodys going to see **** so what difference is it going to make?
If it ok for martinez to fluff his record against a guy with a record 3 wins and 34 losses then you can be damn sure its ok for little old andy lee.

Sure Lee is looking for big fights, they mean big bucks which is the whole point of being a Boxer.

But, sometimes you have to earn em by taking risky fights for less reward. Barker is doing this with Macklin Gevor has done this several times - they are bad examples.

well seeing as he'll more than likely have atleast 2 fights (possibly three) by the time barker gets in the ring against Macklin then yes i would say it is ok

Gevor is moving to Super Middle to fight for a world title and Barker is fighting his European mandatory against a top 10 fighter.......very imaginative ways of avoiding a guy that got dusted by Brian Vera.

Keep busy fights are fine if they are recognised as that. I just get the impression that if it was Barker taking on Cook in a "keep busy" we would have precisely the same number of responses on this thread but the argument would be 180 degrees, contra opposite.

Keep busy or not, its a **** fight for Lee at this stage of his career.
