Andy Lee smashes Troy Lowry to make John Duddy clash possible

Poor Any is becoming a victim of his own fans frustration it seems. Talk of Duddy is frustrating a lot of people because it simply has been going on now for 3 years. I actually believe this article about Hamilton & Steward coming close to agreeing a deal.
In previous times rhumors came about that Hamilton wanted no part of it but that is understandable because Duddy was more advanced at that time and more marketable. Times have changed and at the very least it's a decent pay day for both of them. Even id Duddy loses he will still be offered more pay days as a decent gate keeper.

 

Make it happen. This fight makes lots of sense for Lee and I think he beats him fairly comfortably, winning over much of Duddy's fanbase in America and putting him in contention for a world title.

i'd say ireland, probly in limerick, duddy hasnt been getting much media cover recently even though he's near a house hold name. but fight would still be very popular.

 

I heard it would be on in New York, which would make sense, because Lee is obviously trying to build himself in the states and Duddy can put bums on seats in NY.

Well were im from duddy is a lot better known than lee but i am from derry, and a lot of non boxing fans would know about him and know how duddy's getting on. Lee wouldnt be quite as well known but still relativly popular. fight would be massive, could sell out the o2 imo.

 

Lee is well known in Limerick by the average joe. He might pull some of the munster rugby crowd to his fights. Duddy is big in Ulster and they are both realtively well known in Dublin but not as much as the likes of Dunne was. They would sell out 4 thousand seats in my opionion. Not sure about 10 thousand though.

No I wouldn't go that far. Duddy was fairly well known before when he seemed to be on the verge of bigger things and was on Irish non-boxing shows, but he's fallen away since, and it's been a long time since he fought over here.

Lee has been there there abouts, but he hasn't fully broken through, he's in need of a big win. If he could grab a european title even I'd say it would do it for him.

 

I agree with you, I don't think these lads will fill the O2, not enough Dublin interest. The odessey in Belfast at 8000 might be too big an ask. I think your figure of 4000 is about right but the problem there is we don't have a venue. The inec in Killarney I think can do 3000 and would be a great location, I don't know if the green glens arena in millstreet is still in business that would be perfect size wise but its in the middle of nowhere. Maybe Brian Peters could get a loan of the live at the marquee tent, I think that was 4000. Barring that I think this fight takes place in New York but surely it's a natural for St.Patrick's weekend and not December 4 and it's got to be for the Irish middleweight belt at the very least. I just heard on irish paddys blog radio that Lee signed to fight Duddy but Duddy has not signed the contract yet. I also heard that the fight will NOT be in ireland for certain and will be promoted by Top Rank in the US somewhere, if Duddy signs of course.
