Andy Lee to face Sergio Martinez 4 the WBC middleweight title in New York next March!

Yeh Personally, what I rate the most in a boxer of all the traits you can look for, is speed and footwork. You can't beat those traits in a boxer. For this reason I think Martinez will win.

 

i know he fought pavlik whos a big middlewight with great power but he didnt look himself that night and claimed to be weightdrained

 

He was a bit drained in the fight but he still had his power and was landing on Martinez in the middle rounds yet couldn't dent him.

 

I heard some where could be in Atlantic city any true??

 

Lee's progession path was looking very good. This Unbanski guy in Germany, Vera in feb and Duddy in march. Of course he must jump at the Martinez fight but his preparation is not ideal. Martinez will rightly be the big favourite but I'm backing Lee all the way. With two months plus to prepare and focus this maybe his best chance. The championship rounds 10, 11, 12 will be my biggest concern. Destine awaits Lee, go for it.:good

 

Im delighted Lee is getting this chance but I do not think he is ready. The calibre of fighters Lee has been fighting since the Vera loss isnt good preparation for a fighter of Martinez class. Hope Lee pulls it off but cant see it happening.

Probably a good thing, hopefully Lee can get a couple of good ranked fights in early 2011, and get him ready properly to take his shot.

 

No you picked Pirog to win by UD , which was the least likely outcome of the fight TBH.

Pirog could of bounced Jacobs off the canvas 3 times and he still wouldnt of got the decision. Jacobs only had to make the final bell running and he would of got the belt. Poor call Rob...

 

Disagree. If Jacobs had done his homework he could of stayed on his feet but would of still be outboxed.

 

It would be great for irish fans if this happens,Lee would be serious underdog but he has some left hook and if it connects it will knock down anyone,someone with Lees power would always be tricky!

I think what Barry meant was that there was no way in hell the judges were going to give Pirog the decision over Jacobs no matter how much Dmitry outboxed him.

I agree. I think Pirog would've gotten screwed had he not taken the fight out of the judges' hands.
